The students view you as a model and as a new instructor you should look to senior instructors as models for you.

Leading requires modeling and engaging with your students

Learning is the most important thing going on in the classroom, not teaching.

You have to be able to read the room, and meet the students at their point of need. If they haven't had the opportunity to learn a skill, or don't remember something, you don't have to destroy them. Work with them, show them by example, assist them until they can do it on their own. They won't care about our knowledge until we show that we are interested in their personal growth first.

I was always taught that first impressions are lasting impressions. I agree that being able to reach students is very important to developing trust within the classroom setting. Still remembering being a student myself, how can you believe what your instructor is telling you is correct if you do not trust them. There is also nothing wrong with being supportive of your students, as adults and people they go through things just the same as me on a daily basis.

Great pointers and examples.  well done

Create your own style of teaching, know your materials and be supportive.

Be professional by being a role model (dress code, punctuality, and professional language) and a leader of the classroom.

Continue to improve yourself and essentially will improve your students way of learning.

This module taught me that teachers need to be good role models for their students. Students need positive reinforcement, structure, and a professor who loves and is passionate about the subject they teach!

I learned that i need to be a leader by example, and not to presume that I am the smartest in the class. I may have more experience, but my students may have another outlook or method of doing the same task. Be open to suggestions from my fellow peers and follow the lead of seasoned teachers. I plan to be early to classes and have things prepared for the day, and to be excited about teaching my favorite class everyday.

Each class may be different. Some students will have multiple years of experience. Listen and plan accordingly. The 5 Cs" ( Credible, Candid, Compassionate, Committed and Clear works for me. Years of being a nurse in the field will help students with their growth and development.

As a teacher, you Lead by example by practicing what you say. You also demonstrate professionalism by showing up on time, do your homework well and prepare your material ready to go. Show interest in the material that you are going to teach to make the students develop interest in the material.

Share your knowledge in an organized and motivational manner. Connect with students on a professional level and also expresses your personality.

I really like the idea of not trying to prove you are the smartest person in the room, but proving that you are passionate about the subject. It keeps your students engaged, but helps you lead by an example of being humble and a life long learner.

Know how present yourself, and always keep the class engaged with the lecture. Lead by example and follow the criteria or lesson you are teaching.

I learned that the student is always watching and always lead by example.

Point taken!!! Very insightful for the new instructor transitioning from the field to the classroom.

keeping up with the latest of processes in you're field and also the 5-C's ( Credible, Candid, Compassionate, Committed, Clear) life experience in relation to the work field helps to project an image of understanding to the students for me and seems to work well.

Being prepared, showing my own enthusiasm, professionalism - someone else said it "lead by example"

To be able to teach others I have to be teachable myself. I am the determining factor in the classroom.

Professionalism and the 5- Cs
