Stress and Consistancy

What I have found is the link between stress and consistency in the classroom. Moreover, when the students get the structure and communication they need and this is done consistently, the stress of the students goes down and their production goes up. Ultimately, optimal structure with consistency leads to the lowering of student stress.

Setting the tone

Great class management comes from day one. We have to set the tone for the class and the students will follow. Let them know what they are what you expect and let them know you will give them the best you have. All you ask in return is that they do the same.

New Technology

It was brought to my attention recently that a student was able to gain access to syllabus containing test questions. It was stated that the student used a cell phone to take pictures of the papers. The current technology does change how cheaters act in the classroom and most instructors are not aware of the speed in which cheating can occur.

OMG

That first day can definitely be an OMG moment. relax and be honest with your students and yourself. Be prepared.

Cheating

The methods of cheating have become quite complex and I am very watchful of assignments that are obviously copied from others.

Challenging students

It is a fine line to walk with students that present challenges because they may consume a great deal of time away from the class. I try to address these students after the class is over.

Student anxiety

Students seem to relax more when they know what to expect of my course. I try to make each phase of the class clear to students so that they know what Labs are included and what presentations are included.

When to Grade Papers

As a writing instructor, I try to grade student papers within a week of submission but I am starting to find it hard to satisfy my own expectations. Any pointers?

I enjoy learninig how we can blend our corse with our students.I was in the Dental field for 34 yrs!And now Iam a instructor in a Dental program. I really like giving them knowledge everyday so they can be the best in there field.

What will stress me out is..........

What will stress me out on a daily basis is not knowing if and when I will have any prep time to complete the tasks required. Therefore, I have to prepare for either and use my time management skills.

Student Behavior

Hello Everyone, Just as there is bad behavior what about those students who just seem to not react at all. How do we try to reach them and should we involve the class in some type of activity that would help everyone to communicate?
