Great class management comes from day one. We have to set the tone for the class and the students will follow. Let them know what they are what you expect and let them know you will give them the best you have. All you ask in return is that they do the same.

This was such a huge help!!!!  I will use it in all my classes.   Thank you.  Have a wonderful day!

My dad would always rattle off poems and quotes in the morning when I was growing up. I was the tenth of eleven kids so I did a lot of observering when I was young. "There is a price to be paid in success, that price MUST be made in advance" was one of his favorites. He was always talking about having the right attitude no matter what we were doing and how important it was to be positive. When I saw the part in this section of the course about bringing your personality into your teaching I started thinking… >>>

We all have "ah-ha" moments in life. They may come when we least expect it. When a guest speaker is brought in to class or the class takes a trip to see their field in action it can bring on "ah-ha" moments for the students. Field trips and guest speakers really help in opening the students mind in a different way… >>>

My dad would always talk about the importance of setting the tone or setting the pace. Whether he was talking about life or running, he always said it was important to set a strong pace from the beginning. I think with teaching it is very much the same. The first days of class it is so important to let the class know the tone and pace of the class. This way they know what they will need to do to keep up and what it will take to have success in the class.
