Burn out

I had a bad group of students and I felt very burned out. I took time off and re-focused my energy; any other suggestions?

This was a great module. I try to implement some of the suggestions in my classroom such as rewarding any student a twinkie and 5 bonus points for acing an exam. I've seen more engagement from students since implementing this. I also like the fun enviroment in the classroom. I try to take a daunting task and making it fun and funny so they don't realize its work.

motivation

I beleive moyivation is the key to educating a young student or a adult student making sure they understand the more you learn the better your life could be enjoying the careerr path you have chosen and using your life experiences to teach.

What are some effective ways to motivate a student that is faililing

demonstrate you care about his success. Reward him in a form of praise when his scores improve. Reinforce his learning behavior by giving him the necessary tools and materials to work with. Devote time for him and check on him frequently to know his progress and help him solve his problems.Tell him some sucessful stories about people who failed but were able to persever and later on win their game. As Albeit Eisten once said" a problem well defined is a problem half solve". Make your class interesting by breaking your lecture materials into chunks. Display genuine concern to the student that you care.

I just remember everytime I am in the classroom, I was once in the shoes of the students and I didn't want a boring teacher. So I try to make it fun to learn for everyone.

I know it is important to have the students bring their outside experince in to what they are learning but sometimes the student goes way to far in the experince that other students do not want to hear.

Adult learners coming back to school.

Students that have not been in school for more than 10 to 15 years have a hard time getting out of old habits and in the grove of new ones. What are some things that we can suggest to them for help?

Students that speak other languages than english.

Sometimes it is very hard to make both parties feel comfortable when the other think that they are talking about the other. When they are only helping one another out.

Age Diversity and Returning Vets...

Many students are returning military veterns of diverse ages and relating their military experience to classroom experience is a tool that enables the vet to adapt to civilian classwork.
