I teach at a fast paced college that works in 6 week terms. I can teach up to 4 classes each term, and I often am in a different room for each class (while other instructors also use those same 4 rooms). One of the things that I have always discussed with other educators is my view of myself as the gatekeeper to knowledge, rather than the teacher. Modern technology provides information virtually instantaneously, and thus an instructor cannot be the person who gives the knowledge to the student. They can, however, help to lead the student to where the information is, and how to apply that knowledge to everyday situations.
