Activity

One size fits all does not work in a private educational institution with a customer service orientation. And, yes there is the reality that profits must be made. The better approach is use a lot of in-class activities that allow individual students to use their own means to solving problems, etc. It also literally mandates that they be allowed to advance in the course at their own pace.
The reality is that there have always been public and private educational institutions. How do contemporary well performing private educational institutions manage the contemporary perspective of "getting what I pay for" from students?
Ultimately, projects, etc. have to be proposed, presented, and promoted. It takes soft skills to do carry this out successfully. Please present your examples.
What are your thoughts on the use and management of body language in response to situations that arise in the classroom?
How do you deal with well meaning students who often dominate the answering of questions in a course where questioning is used often? I teach various law courses and this happens often.
What are some techniques for dealing with students who do not do well, at least initially, with answering questions?
What are your thoughts on redirecting student answers to questions when student responses are off topic, etc.?
What are some strategies for bring students up-to-speed when general background knowledge is lacking?
Do you see a difference when using remote controls for change slides, etc.?
Discussion Comment
How do you feel about the use of the Myers-Briggs personality assessment? Can or would you use this to evaluate and "open" students?
