Student learning asessment

This is a great way to see how much students know and what "level" they are on

teaching assesment

a variety of quizzes and test to see what needs improvement, was was successful and what needs tweeking

questioning as a teaching technique

This is awesome it allows students to get involved as well as share their own questions.Gives teachers an idea of what the students know

questioning

ask an array of questions to see what is understood and what needs more time to be understood

Lecture is all the same

Sometimes I feel like my lectures all sound exactly the same just on a different chapter.

How much info do you give a student

I find myself being gaurded as to how much I want my students to know about my career history. What if some feel I do not have enough experience in the field to teach?

Checkpoints

I find it difficult to come up with new and creative ways to gauge my students understanding mid-lecture

Hands on Activities

I am struggling to incorporate more hands on learning into my lectures.

Excellent teaching tool

This course was very informative and helped me understand what skills will help me become a more effective instructor.

ED 101

I have been teaching at a technical school now for a little over a year. So far this course has given me many new ideas of how to better instruct my class and hopefully make it a bit more interesting and let the students get more out of it.

praise

I found some of the methods chosen for praise were a bit to overbearing. I would never tell a student how good a student he/she is. That is a real put down for the other students in the class.I just say excellent answer. I use a method where all students are engaged in the learning process. I create a real problem and asked each student to give me a solution for the circumstances and write his/her answer on the board. There will be a numer of different answers, I do not address the answers until everyone has given an answer. I then explain why they are incorrect and move along until I answer the correct solution. This allows each student to participate in the questioning process and learns at the same time with out the stigma of being wrong.

testing students

I love the standard test course, all the subject straight from the book and review.

Student Participation

Most of the students are shy in a large class, most common play games with common answers about the subject and reward answers.

teaching techniques

My students usually preferred power-point, dental class show more pictures and real work.

asking questions

Asking questions is a great way to see if the class is grasping the material and leave opportunity for other students or yourself to elaborate on the subject giving everyone a better understanding by hearing how other student interpret what they got out of the material.

Young Students

There are times that younger students do not want to dig into lab projects. I like when i have a few older students because they can help to motivate the younger students.

Colors that stimulate thinking

What colors can cause a person to think critacally about an exercise? How can color be overused in a presentation? How can students be encouraged to use color in asking questions?

obsticles in active learning

i learnt alot from this class and the effort was soild and highly appreciated the questions about the challenges in active learning were a little confusing though

Staying on Schedule

Teaching a diverse group of students makes it hard to stay on schedule with the syllabus, do you have any suggestions for me to make sure that we have covered the material and stay on schedule? Priscilla Bamberg

Younger Instructor

I am a younger instructor and I feel as through I am not respected as much as the "older' instructors. I feel that I go above and beyond and my students still seem to have a level of disrespect for me. Priscilla Bamberg
