Ask a question from your peers to help you in your professional work. Seek different points of view on a topic that interests you. Start a thought-provoking conversation about a hot, current topic. Encourage your peers to join you in the discussion, and feel free to facilitate the discussion. As a community of educators, all members of the Career Ed Lounge are empowered to act as a discussion facilitator to help us all learn from each other.

Use of discussion

I find that opening up discussion during lecture promotes active learning and makes lecture much more interesting to the students.

Learning Styles

I think it is very important to know how your students learn. In my classes, at the beginning of term, we do individual assessments to make sure that the students are studying correctly and getting the most out of their hard work.

Learning in the college setting

More college settings have adult learners so you have to keep the students instrest.

better learning skills

I would like to encourage questions from my students and have better respond from my students

good learning skills

I would like to use learning style assessment in the future. I think it would be a good tools to help me reach the students better.

Improving Students' learning process by every possible means

In addition to power point presentation I believe in showing them animated videos to understand the topic and encourage them to understand the topic.

How to help a student wh really wants to graduate but is weak

Sometimes we have students in our class who are slow learners but they do want to participate. some how they cannot go for extra hours , in such cases what is the best method to solve their issue?

Delivering the lecture

You prepare to deliver a particular lecture using different supports for which you have to use the internet, and then you get to the class and the internet goes down. How somebody suppose to handle this situation?

Good or Bad

At the end of the course,I always give my students an opportunity to talk about the class and make some critics. A great majority of them always come up with this: they went home, after the first meeting, with the impression that I was the worst person ever, and then during the course of the class, they realize that I was a very nice, kind, and fair guy. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Students with learning disabilities

I haven't had the opportinuty to work with student that have disabilities. However, this class really help me understand my role as a instructor to help students with disabilities in the future.

learning assements

which is better showing the student how to do it or letting them watch each other

ED206

Many interesting new ideas to instruct students in lab procedures and safety is one I almost never emphasis. Glad this course drew my attention to a short coming in my teaching of lab protocol.

Team Based Learning for all learning stlyles

I am a Head & Neck Anatomy Instructor and have recently incorporated Team Based Learning into the course. I typically Give a brief PPT on the topic, have the students physically identify landmarks on their skulls, read the chapter being discussed and answer the review questions. They will take their quiz in their assigned teams as well with me encouraging discussions. Does this lesson cover all types of learning styles or am I leaving some out? 8-)

strategies

having allowing student ask question and use praising for Correct answer is more positive learning and motivates them to ask in the future

Planning multiple courses

What would be the best outlook when planning for multiple courses?

Dislexya & Dsynoia

Yes i spelled both wrong for a reason, I have Dyslexia in that I reverse my letters and numbers when I write or type, it goes into the brain right but doesn't come out 'right'. I have to edit myself all the time. I also have Dysnomia it's hard for me to remember names unless I've seen that perons many times. So I know about learning disabilities and can relate to those students easier.

working with more and more ELL

The last 2 terms I've had a Spanish woman in my classes, she is the nicest person but doesn't 'get it' sometimes because of the language barrier, and I would try to make my instructions as simple as possible, or show her how to do the task, or ask another student to help her that I thought was good enough at the task already.

I've never made a group

So it's good to know why I would put students into a group, and what i would look for in order to make the group diversified.

LEARNING ACTIVITY

By using games in the class is another way to keep the students focus.

I move around he classroom

Because I want to see what the students are working on, and how far they are in the process of the assignments, and if they need help. Also shows I'm there to help if I'm close to someone that wouldn't normally reach out to me if I were in the font of the class talking.
