The Teaching in Career Education Group is for instructors teaching in career education institutions to discuss topics related to instruction and student learning.
Think of blogs as self-published mini articles. Share your experiences and challenges. Share your successful and failed strategies. Share your proven techniques and best practices. And don’t forget to solicit comments from your peers so we can all learn from the collective knowledge and expertise of our thriving community.
Interesting course. Refreshed somethings that I was rusty on. I would say that even for the most season teacher that it wouldn't hurt to take the course. Provides a better perspective.
I really enjoyed this course. Although I was familiar with most of the course content through trainings and self education, I managed to learn some new material. Most of the topics that were discussed, I was currently knowledgeable of the information but it was a few pointers that was given that enhanced my knowledge. Some of the individual stories, questions and comments that were posted by others were very interesting. Overall I gained useful and knowledgeable information and I look forward to starting the next class. I can say that I absolutely have no complaints and that I am very excited… >>>
AS a new teacher this course helped reinforce how I should be assessing my students learning.
I found this course to be useful. As a new teacher, applying some of these techniques and concepts will be utilized throughout my teaching career. I am looking forward to adding my experiences in the classroom to my blog as time goes on.
This course was instrumental in helping me to identify the stressor, immediacy, as one that I need to learn to reduce and/or eliminate. I, also, tend to prioritize tasks based on the ones I want to do as opposed to those that should be more urgent.
iT HAS BEEN SO LONG SINCE TEACHERS COLLEGE THAT THIS IS SERVING AS A REFRESHER COURSE AND SURPRISINGLY ENOUGH i THINK i MIGHT BE HOOKED. tHE LESSONS ARE WELL PREPARED AND PRESENTED. i AM RELEARNING A LOT. i REALLY HOPE SOMEONE WILL HELP WITH MY QUESTION IN THE FORUM. i AM ANXIOULSY LOOKING FOR SOME SUGGESTIONS ON ASSESSMENT.
I was somewhat confused why my administrators signed me up for ED105 since it's content is about online learning. In my current position there is no facet of online learning, but I can see how other principles of the course apply to what I do. In addition, I am in school in pursuit of degree completion and I do have a small amount of online communication associated with that course. By the time I completed ED105 I could see how what I learned would be useful to me personally and hopefully in the future pofessionally.
This coruse proved to be a lot more intense thani expected but i learnt a lot of strategies especially from all the feedback i am getting in the forums. I am actually enjoying this. I learnt methods of challenging my students which i intend to implement as soon as possible.
WOULD LISTING TO MUSIC BE CONSIDERED AS ON WAY TO RELIEVE SOME STRESS
just finished 101. it really reminded me of how much we take for granted if we have been teaching for a while. i particularly like the ares which challenged us to step out of our comfort zone a little. This i intend to implement to challenge myself a little.
I felt this block of instruction to be extremely helpful. Whereas I understand that all students must be evalusped, the question had come up as to what exactly is our policy? I would have liked more examples of testing media included in the text.
enjoyed the course
I found this course very informative and looking forward to incorporate some of the material in future classes.
enjoyed the course, especially enjoyed hearing the harvard professors speak
I enjoyed this course. I really prefer this to other online courses we have had access to. The sections are shorter and more interesting and definitely better for online learning.
I feel they did leave out the importance of writing legibly on the board or transparency. We all get so used to typing everything our handwriting goes "to pot". We must write clearly and large enough that it can be read all over the class.
Just finished 102 and found it very helpfull gave me new ideas and reinforced information that I have learned.
Some of the knowledge and skills that I learned will help me to know how to deal with students with disabilities. I can ask about previous instructional support that helped them to be successful in other classes and it also informed me of other types of disabilities. It was awesome.
I enjoyed this class
This was a good opportunity for me to think about the various ways to incorpoate assessment of students. I liked the forum on powerpoints vs board. As instructors we should remember that some interaction with the 'good o' fashion' board provides a sense of real one on one instructing. Although, I am now encouraged to use technology because of its rapid response and quick access, I still like to go back to the board for teaching.
I really enjoyed this course.
