ED 110

Found this very helpful especially when I have stressors that I cannot eliminae or reduce.  In my syllabus, it is clearly stated that an automatic 10% will be deducted from the test if it is done the next day on campus.  If it is not done the first day the student will get a 0.  I have also made it mandatory for the people who do miss a test to make their own arrangements with our learning center to take the test.  Any quiz missed is a 0

ED 105

I really enjoyed the course, there is some great information about how students can make up tests and what constitutes an allowed make up.  There should always be exceptions to the rule but the rule needs to be, "be in class for all exams"  I have learned some interesting teaching techniques as well, as far as making powerpoints for the class and stressing only a few points on each one an making sure font is readable.  This was overall a wonderful experiance to take this class.

Sunday afternoon....

Hi. I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday afternoon.  It is a gray day where I am, but, I'm woring while sitting in bed with my four cats surrounding me listening to Joshua Bell. Life is good.  :)

Who would have dreamed that teaching would be this type of scene?

Just finished EL101.  Since November 2010 I've designed one online class and one traditional class and am now delivering them.  This was a nice refresher to my education on this topic.  It reminded me that I need to get some animation going in my compensation class.  Not sure what that… >>>

ED 106

Hello, I enjoyed this course and found the information informative and was impressed by the process. I have been teaching online for several years so much of the information is familar and relevant to online teaching.

I think the course did help me brush up on my skills.

Thanks,

Nick Bergan

ED 101

The entire course was challenging with good information.  Some was reinforcement of what I already do, but offered insights for ways to improve my current classroom activitis.

The follow of the course was self- pased and allowed me to take breaks as needed.  I learned a lot in in this course which will enhance my instructional activities.

I come from a work back ground so to speak, where as I didn't until grad school take any formal teaching courses; but started teaching before entering grad school.  The course offers insight to both new and old teachers alike.  I believe that… >>>

ED 101

I really enjoyed this module as it was a good refresher of materials for the valid instructor. Some times we forget the little things, the misbegotten steps it takes to grow and succeed. Sometimes the most valuable lesson is those we forgot or have grown accustomed to "forgetting". We as instructors must continually learn and grow at all times right beside our students. We can never know or remember enough or become complacent in our professional life.

LOOKING BACK ED 105

ED 105 I HAVE BEEN TEACHING AUTO REPAIR FOR SIX YEARS. THIS COURSE MADE ME REALIZE THE METHODS I HAVE USED BY INSTINCT AND TRIAL AND ERROR. IT ALSO SHOWED ME THINGS I WILL USE IN FUTURE CLASSES.

ED101

I thought this course was very helpful. It gave me tips that I had not thought about. The first day of class is very important. I ask my students the first day of class what their expectations are of the class. For the most part they are not sure. That could be because the classes I teach are not core classes. I give them insight as to what I will be teaching them and what I expect from them. I arm them with a syllabus and prospectus so they know what the course is going to look like. Sometimes that… >>>

Refreashed

Often at times we as Instructers need tune ups. Throughout EL 107 it somewhat re-energizes you and gets you fired up and hitting on all 8 cylinders. As instructors I feel we often need this to keep ourselves at the top of our game so we can deliver the best service to our students.

ED 101

I recently finished the online program. I found it very interesting. It inspired me to think about some of my teaching techniques. I especially found the material dealing with the first class session to be very helpful. I plan on making use of it immediately. Of particular interest was the idea of using a pretest. I am definitely going to employ it.

E 102

Just completed E 102 and although I have taught online for awhile, I still learned something, and just gave validation to activities I am doing correctly

ED106

The course was very instrumental to me especially as it relates to individuals with learning disabilities as I have yet to experience, to my knowledge, of a student with a learning disability. When and if that time occurs I feel as though I will be adequately prepared.

Course a Refresher

The course I took was a refresher for me. It had good information in it. I especially liked the section on students with learning disabilities because my own daughter has a severe physical disability that interfers with her learning. I use the information in that section everyday in my professional and personal life.

Response to ED310

As  new instructor a couple years ago, I worried that games would be viewed by the students as silly or a waste of time.  For most groups, though, I've seen games work well to improve retention of dry material.   Currently I have a group of students who are sharply divided in their choice of friends within the class.  I have to be careful with games, because it is toxic to have the competition in the classroom fall along lines of friendship.  The admonition in this series to choose teams randomly is a very pertinent recommendation for me right now.  The… >>>

Helpful for new instructors

As a fairly new instructor in the field, this course was very helpful. Much of what I am doing is in line with what the course suggests. I plan to make a few changes based on the information provided.

Reinforcement for me

Most of the material in this course reinforced what I have learned through experience over many years of teaching.  It is good to know that many things I found by "trial and error" before ever having any formal education courses are valid and useful in assessing my students.

ED-105

It was a fun course with some insghtful tehniques.

Completion of ED 103

This course provided me with a great insight to providing assessments for my students.  It makes me want to go back and reevaluate all my tests to see if they are reliable and valid, and as such makes me wonder if I have provided an accurate of assessment of not just the students but also my teaching.  Thank you!

Learning the importance of patience as a teacher

I recently completed the ED106 course, and as I completed the section on teaching students with learning disabilities, I thought of a particular trait that teaching such students demands—that is patience. Last year in reflecting upon my life, not only as a teacher, but in various other dimensions as well, I recognized that I must ever strive to be patient. In fact I wrote an article for Examiner.com, an Internet publication that I work for, in which I discussed “patience” as one of the fruit of the Spirit. In the title I asked, “What Fruit is in Season?… >>>

Changing Teaching Styles

Have just completed ED104 and though I have taught for many years have to agree that the course still challenged me enough to keep my interest.  Am finding it hard to change my teaching style to challenge the younger students now days so hope these courses will help and encourage me to try some new teachniques.
