Completion of ED 105

Completed ED 105.  Enjoyable, informative course. Think I learned some valuable tools to use with students.

Finished ED 106 today.  Interesting methods of assisting Learning Disabilities students.  This should be helpful to me in the future.

Earnest J. Kendall Associate/Instructor

excellent on line course

This was an  on line course. I especially liked the section on the Pygmalion Effect and using colour, light and music to enhance learning.

Good Online Course

I really think that this was a good online course.  I feel that it will deffinately help me as being a new instructor, and I have lots of new ideas.  I am a little more confident now, so that is always a good start

Interaction

Instead of just lecturing I call on students and get their participation.  Some students have to be called on or they wont participate while others will anser every question, so I go in order and ask for everyone to participate.

The good Drama

When hiring instructors I feel lucky when getting someone with a drama back ground.  I tell them to get in there and ham it up a bit.  Not Keystone Cops material but to let their passion for the field pour out of them.  I explain this keeps the instructor and student interested in the material and the field.  Of course with the passion should come better retention and that helps all of us.

Stage

I feel almost on stage when teaching.  Learning and putting theory to practice from these courses is interesting.  I feel like I naturally do a lot of the practices encouraged through these courses.  I learned several new analogies to apply and look forward to utilizing!

ED101

I felt that this course filled some gaps in my teaching strategies that will make me a more productive program director and instructor. I love continuous learning. It is nice to refine our practice.

continuous learning

I have to say, that what I've learned through the two courses i've taken is close to what I practice in my own classroom, so I know that I'm on the right track to improving how and what I teach.

Presnting course materials

What I have experienced in all classes is do not read out of book but put up some demostrations on the screen so the person can see the importance of material and also have visual of why it needs to be known.

ED 104

I have just completed the ED 104 this was a great area to go, I have learned that alot of times we all have a difficult student and that sometimes it is not what is being taught it can from time to time be that the student has just had a bad day at work, unemployment may not have shown up or they are just not getting the support they need from home.

Tracy

ED 107

I agree.  I think that training is important.  I also think in addition to training that meeting with peers to discuss issues is important too.  I have applied what I have learned from training and discussions with peer in my teaching.  I helps to get other opinions and ideas about things.

F

I agree. I will try having my clinical students write their strengths and weakness on 3x5 cards to.

ED 105

I LIKE THE IDEA ABOUT HAVING STUDENTS WRITE DOWN THEIR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESS ON A 3X5 CARD. i WILL TRY THAT ON HTIS WINTER START.

ED 103

103 WAS A GOOD REFRESHER COURSE BUT I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT SKING OTHER INSTRUCTORS THERE METHODS JUST MAKES ME WANT TO JOURNEY OUT AND DELIVER MY LECTURES ANOTHER WAY.

ED106

I really like the idea in ED106 of using tshirts to demonstrate anatomy.  I think this is a great way for the students to visualize the parts they are learning.

ED101

I found some very useful information in ED101 Effective Teaching Skills.  This course really drove home the fact that appearing professional and having your class completely prepared is very important in coming across as a professional in adult education.

104 Info Useful

I just took ED104. I really liked the short videos from the Harvard educators. I think I'll incorporate this strategy into my writing classes. I'm going to look for some brief video snippets to watch in class and then ask students to summarize highlights/content in a brief paragraph. I also liked the idea of electing a class "observer" who can share the big "take away points" at the end of class with everyone. What a great way to involve students & also make sure that we're sticking to our course objectives!

Always Something to Learn

I have been teaching at the career college for about eight years. I see the importance of becoming an instructional delivery expert as well as the subject matter expert I am. While many people know their field they may not have the training to deliver it in a manner that others can understand. That is why I have found this course to be helpful and useful in my teaching career.

ED106

I just finished this module and being a new instructor I retrieved and retained so much from this course and so look forward to more online courses.  As brief as the feedback from the Harvard Professors were it was very intriquing to take a few quick notes from them and feel as if my instructor abilities can only be improved by this and future program.  As this module spoke of life experience is a large part of instructors process in teaching and I believe for myself that this module is a life experience and I am excited to return to… >>>

Is Online Teaching for me?

I have just finished the EL102 course on Online Education (can't remember the exact title) and I found it very informative and refreshing.  I loved the information that was presented but what really helped was reading all the responses to the discussion questions.  I have been an instructor for 10 years and in that 10 years I have taught 1 online course.  Why one?  You may ask.  Well, the answer is simple, I found it extremely overhelming!  Between my full-time job that requires 8 hours of computer work and this class I was on the computer, it felt, like 20… >>>
