don't multitask, listen, don't get distracted, don't interupt, respond appropriatley

 

Body language is key.  Making the prospective student comfortable the moment you meet in person.

Rephrasing.  This lets the student know you are listening to their questions and concerns.

Use more "How" and "What" sentances.

Be aware of body language, especially crossed arms.

Actively listen. Avoid multi tasking.

 

Listen to understand, not to respond. If you are already thinking of a response before the person you're communicating with is done speaking, you are not listening. 

Sympathy and empathy are different, but valuable communication tools to use when interacting with students.

Body language is so important to know and be aware of it.

I want to learn  listening effectively 

 

To become more aware of my body language

 

Adapting to the person's body language is an easy way to connect to the person.

 

How communicate effectively and learned body language signals.

I am going to make an stronger effort to not interrupt people and be more aware of my voice and tone and my body language.

 

Do not interrupt the student and listen to him.

Make sure that my body and voice are in harmony.

And to know the difference between sympathy and empathy.

Listening and not moving ahead of the actural conversation is essential. Not interupting is an essential part of listing skills. It's like trying to answering without reading the whole question. Also, pausing to give the other person a chance to respond.

 Learning just how important that three goals of communication is to a student 

1. Being aware of body lanuage 

2. reflect and rephrase

3. Clarify when i am not sure of what the student is saying
