Puts a handle on what people from various generations might value.

Modifying voice inflection during a presentation is what caught my attention. I give up to 7 presentations a day on the same material. Sometimes I go into zombie mode and just try to get through it. I need the same energy in the last presentation as I did iin the first. Changing the tone of my voice among other things is a way to freshen up the presentation.

I need to raise my level of communication, particularly listening.

Listening and not moving ahead of the actural conversation is essential. Not interupting is an essential part of listing skills. It's like trying to answering without reading the whole question. Also, pausing to give the other person a chance to respond.

Communications in all its forms can either be of great benefit to our schools or filled with hidden dangers depending on our personal communication skills. Proverbs 10:19 says this. When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise. I've learned through this course to restrain my words and use them carefully whether face to face, on the phone, or in writing. Particularly in writing. Once you hit the send button you can't get it back.

I have been presenting for 39 years on basically the same subject matter. The points this course brought out were spot on and I learned something in the process of taking this training. It just goes to show you that an old dog can learn some new tricks.
