Effective Use of Social Media in Online Courses --> Social Networking

Post what you've learned about this topic and how you intend to apply it. Feel free to post questions and comments too.

Students must be versed in how social networking works and the difference between social and professional.

Social media is becoming a bigger part of our everyday life, i think it does make sense to include it in teaching but keep in mind to be respectful and mindful of what is shared online. As you never know who will see it and what kind of impression the reader may take.

Social media can be a powerful tool to enhance online learning. It should be used professionly and responsibly with students to ensure there is benefit from the activities.

IN this moduel I  learned that social media can be a powerful tool to enhance online learning as long as its used reasonably. Further more its important not to get carried away and to maintain porfesinall academic deamenor at all times.

Social media has long been viewed more of a true "social" thing but it can be used as a form of learning for students and can meet the needs of the adult learner in today's society.

In this unit I learned that social media can be a powerful tool to enhance online learning when it is used with clear objectives and responsibility. Social networking platforms allow students to share resources, ask questions, and collaborate beyond the limits of the virtual classroom. They also help to create a sense of community, which is especially important in online courses where interaction can sometimes feel limited.

What I found most useful is that effective use of social media is not about using every platform available, but about choosing the right ones and establishing guidelines. For example, a closed Facebook or WhatsApp group can be helpful for quick communication and reminders, while LinkedIn can be used to build professional networks related to the course topics.

In my case, I plan to apply this by setting up a class group on a platform where students feel comfortable participating. I will encourage respectful discussion, sharing of reliable sources, and collaborative projects that can extend classroom learning. I also intend to establish rules about digital etiquette and information credibility so that the group remains a safe and productive space.

Social media has taught me many things. Being able to use it with students I believe will help them engage more into the program.

Integrating new ideas with social media is rising. I learned that we must make sure it's in compliance with the organization .  Social media definitely helps the student engage because we live in a world where technology is used more than ever.

social media is vital in today's teaching method. We can't shy away from embracing it. it is essential way to reach your students and communicate effectively.

Social media can be useful in the virtual classroom.  Biggest hurdle is probably finding which works best for your course.

Social networking tools should be an important part of online courses to engage students in the course material and also to build a sense of 'community' in the online classroom.

Social media can help with reaching students and getting them to engage.

Comment on GILBERT HYPPOLITE's post: Yes, I agree, social media can provide some good complimentary stuff to topic of the study.

Comment on April Bonner's post: Yes, I think that is one of the important elements of this section.

I have learned that the use of social media should have a define purpose and achieve specific objectives. To not use the social media because others or students are using it. Also, it is important to have an awareness of what is posted, the audience and the post must match the content of the topic of the course.

Social media is a tool to help connect students with a platform the use.

Social media has the potential to be a great resource in our classroom because it helps people who learn in different ways, helps to diversify conversations, and helps students create a resource bank that they can revisit.

Tho the courses I teach are mainly hands on we do use social networking to reach out to connect with the public, show the students work, post about helpful skin care tips, and specials we have going on in our student clinic, to gain clients. Social networking is a very useful tool.

Social media is important and i learned so much from this course
