I enjoy incorporating technology tools into my classroom presentations. It allows me to experiment with the tools to create better learning environments and opportunities for my students.
What I have learned from this module is that when introducing new technology to a course, it is important to use a checklist to ensure it aligns with the objectives and learning outcomes being sought and that usage issues are considered upfront. We are now looking at ways to incorporate AI in courses and technology is a very important part of this addition.
From this module, I learned that selecting the right technology tools is essential not only for engaging students but also for organizing and delivering online course content effectively. I now see how tools like LMSs, blogs, digital portfolios, and virtual classrooms each serve different but complementary purposes in facilitating learning. Moving forward, I plan to carefully match each tool to the specific function I need—whether for reflection, collaboration, or instruction—so that technology enhances the learning process rather than complicates it.
I have learned that it is best to do your research on each technology tool and see what works best for you and your students' success.
Tools are only good if students use them...period.
I learned that the tool needs to be chosen based on the ability of the tool to deliver the material to the students, to increase engagement and collaboration to make the learning more active.
I've learned some strategies for teaching a VC and to keep assessing my own use of technology.
There are many different technology tools. Some may be more helpful than others. Choose tools that coincide and help facilitate better learning with your course.
It is important to choose the right tools to assist you in your methods, it is just as important to recognize when the tool you apply is an effective and appropriate tool to conduct your teaching methods or when it's not.
This was a great course to understand the functionality and application of technology to reach different students.
Through this module, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how essential it is to thoughtfully select technology tools that not only support teaching but also align with course organization and learning outcomes. I used to think of technology mostly in terms of access—laptops, software, and internet—but now I understand that true instructional technology involves tools like LMSs, virtual classrooms, screen capture, and digital portfolios that actively shape the learning experience.
One of the most important takeaways for me is the idea that a single tool may have multiple functions, but that doesn’t mean every function needs to be used. It’s more important to match the right function of the tool to the right learning activity or teaching style. I also appreciated the reminder that technology should enhance—not complicate—the learning process. If students (or instructors) struggle to use a tool, it becomes a barrier instead of a support.
In my own teaching or course design, I plan to apply what I’ve learned by starting with the learning outcomes and choosing technology tools that directly support those outcomes. I also intend to be more intentional about including clear technology requirements in my syllabus and creating space for students to practice using the tools early on. Additionally, I’ll make it a point to gather student feedback about how the tools are working so I can make data-informed changes to improve engagement and learning.
This module has definitely broadened my view of technology not just as an accessory to instruction, but as a central part of how we teach, assess, and connect in the online environment.
Voice over PowerPoint is a powerful way to archive your lecture content.
Technology comes in many forms and it would be important to match the technology based on the learning/teaching content.
knowing the need to assess different types of tools to see which fits my teaching style.
I learned the importance of ensuring that I assess each tool I would like to use for technology as to ensure it will facilitate learning and create a classroom that not only engages the students but also helps them navigate through the course easily.
Is very important to know about each platforms and understand in which moment can use it
It is important to use tools that help you build an effective lesson and engage students. A virtual learning environment may be new to many students and using effective tools will only help facilitate better learning.
I learned to be very intentional about the tech I incorporate in class. While teaching adult learners in an accelerated environment, this is a vital piece of planning. The class will have varied levels of tech comfort for students. Also, it matters the instructor's comfort level as well because of how reliable this resource will be. If tech does not work for some reason, what is the alternative for the lesson? This is an important thing to consider when planning.
It is important to use technology tools that work with your teaching style, get the outcomes expected, and that is user friendly.
It is important to use technology tools that work for both instructors and students. There is a need for positions that specialize in technical recommendations for education.
