Media helps the student to interact and engage with the content and captures their attention.
Using rubrics that are clearly stated allow for students to know exactly how they are assessed.
Media strategies and ISD work together like this:
ISD sets the overall plan to meet learning goals.
Media strategies choose the best tools and methods to make content engaging and accessible.
For example, in an ISD project, media strategies help decide if interactive videos or text are better for presenting information. ISD ensures the chosen media aligns with the learning goals and assessments.
Combining both approaches makes learning more engaging and effective by using different media in a well-structured way.
Strategic incorporation of video to support the concepts.
This section was a good refresher on ISD. I will go back through my online course and evaluate to make sure it meets all of the learning objectives and makes sense from the student perspective.
Organization is crucial. Without logical sequence in each module, things become unclear and learning is halted. With logical sequencing, things build on each other and connections are made.
Something that stood out to me was, "One of the benefits of a learning community in an online course is peer accountability. Peer accountability helps students to keep on task and feel that they are part of an ongoing effort to increase their learning opportunities"
Hello! I find particularly challenging the activities aimed at creating community among students and instructors participating in the online course. The possibility of connecting and relating with other people, beyond the distance, seems to me to be a fundamental element of this teaching-learning modality. A pleasure to greet you from Cordoba, Argentina!
I think the media its the most important part of a course, because it adds interaction, life and more resources to students.
By giving the students multiple methods of assessment, and also including them in the assessment process, they will better understand the material and where they, or a fellow student, went wrong and will be able to more easily make corrections.
I have not used a document entitled "Design Specs" - and I look forward to using this!
Online classes MUST include a wide variety of media.
It would be best if you were organized online; so many tasks need to be done correctly to engage students, have them participate, and make them feel heard and important. Assessment is critical and there are multiple ways to teach, you need to use the best format for the lesson, not always just lecture. Use color and your imagination,
What an interesting module. I loved being able to justify the quality of course elements, including images, videos, and how to improve student engagement and even the connection among students.
Audio, graphics, text, video, etc... are understood during the design and development phase. Feedback from implementation can be useful in order to change and develop new strategies for student learning.
Learning all about the ISD and the structure/setup of the system.
I really appreciated learning a great deal about how all of the elements gather together, even testing. In regards to my own school I am thinking about just how I might be able to bring out the best in my students with standards tied to future and upcoming tests.
The emphasis on creating a structured yet flexible online learning environment is key. Organizing course material in a logical, building-block manner facilitates self-directed learning, making it easier for students to grasp the progression of the course. Additionally, the incorporation of diverse examples caters to different student backgrounds, enhancing understanding. The concept of fostering a learning community, even in an online setting, through peer accountability and collaborative activities like discussion groups and group projects, is particularly effective. It not only enriches the learning experience but also promotes engagement and a sense of belonging among students, crucial elements in successful online education.
Effective media techniques for online course design include incorporating a variety of excellent, easily accessible formats—such as podcasts, interactive simulations, and videos—into the course material in a seamless manner. A strategic plan, content development, implementation, ongoing evaluation of the course's efficacy, and learner requirements analysis are all part of the crucial process known as Instructional Systems Design (ISD). These methods are essential for developing worthwhile educational experiences, particularly in cutting-edge industries like cryptocurrency and blockchain.
Good reminders, especially how to encourage student peer and self evaluation
