Keeping students engaged starts with building real connections and making sure they feel supported both in and out of class. Checking in with students more often and make my classroom a place where they know their effort matters.

Take time to enjoy your students and get to know their weaknesses to encourage them they can do it!

Instructors need to have enthusiam about the course they are teaching and this needs to be seen by the students. This energy transfers into the learning environment which helps with student engagement.  Instructor should treat adult learners like adults, not children. Incorporating activities into the classroom environment can increase student engagement.

The human factor as said above, students want to know that you have been in their shoes and still have a personal side that is not all business, have a little fun with the students.  Have some good humor, ask them how their day is going or what they are doing the rest of the day, plans for the weekend.

I learned that engaged students that are respected and supported tend to stay and finish. as an instructor I have to find a way to engage students a good start is learning the names of the students day one.

If we create an environment where it is fun yet about business it will create a great atmosphere. It is important to create a positive yet fun culture in the classroom setting.

Respecting students time and space is very important for them to feel comfortable to be successful. Being respectful to student also allows them to take up space in class and provide their personal input into classes and their peers.

I learned that its ok to have a few light hearted moments in class that help keep the learning atmosphere fun.

keep students engaged with fun activities and challenging task.

if we engage the students in a friendly atmosphere and have fun and laugh at mistakes but promote learning we can keep them interested and continue to grow.

I learned that students are more likely to stay in a course when they feel supported and encouraged. Clear communication, being consistent, and building positive relationships help students stay engaged. I plan to apply this by checking in with students, being approachable, and creating a welcoming environment so they feel comfortable and motivated to continue.

Slow down and build rapport.

As instructors, have the passion and excitement when conveying information.  Truly care about the students.  Start the day with a motivational video or icebreaker.  Create a psychologically safe learning environment.

My takeaway from this module is the importance of providing positive, encouraging feedback on student assignments. I will be intentional about offering constructive feedback that supports student growth and learning.

Remember that the students are adults and handle them like you would handle adults. Keeping adult learners engaged by noticing what they have accomplished well and give them praise for that but also challenge them to do the not so easy task that they may not like. Reward them when the except the challenge encourage them that  they are doers and achievers .

Creating moments in the learning process to find a connection with students and to make learning fun.

The importance to make even the "boring" or not so exciting topics, be engaging to keep the students attentive and engaged. Making sure that when you are lecturing on a topic that you are confident and enthused during that lecture to maintain engagement. encouraging the students to partake in the lectures, can help improve understanding and maintain retention as they feel the importance of their presence.

Learning can be fun!

Comment on Harold Hegge's post: I 100% agree with you, I have faced this challenge many times. especially when having to teach a very structured course outline. It gets very redundant, can resight the entire lesson plan verbatim to the point I sound like a broken record.  What I have done in the past, is to bring relative world events to the class and get the class taking. From this I am able to pick up different ways to paraphrase my thoughts from something a student may have taught me. I am very big on class engagement, I can learn just as much from them as they can from me.
