By engaging professionally with students with speech and dress

I have learned that you sometimes have to be the "judge and jury" as an educator, and that you can't be your students pal.

As an instructor, maintaining the professional/instructor role with students is important and it's easy to slip into wanting to be a "friend" which is counter intuitive to instruction and learning.

Knowledge of subject matter, preparedness, and behaving in a professional manner all help to solidify the instructor as the leader of the class.

I learned to be a classroom leader and make room to empower others in their learning.   Utilizing the 5-C's, which can be used not only in the classroom but also in everyday interactions.

Taking the initiative to progress in my job, motivate not only myself to do better but also my students. Leading by example for them as well, it is okay to be engaged but to also have boundaries with my students as well. Being committed to my job and having the drive to excel and be the best

Model, manage & motivate.  Remaining learner focused, modeling expected behaviors, and being committed to life long learning as an educator.

To always be prepared and lead by example.

Reflection on Learning and Application in Diesel and Welding Instruction

Recently, I have deepened my understanding of modern diesel technology and welding techniques, which are crucial for preparing my students for careers in these fields. Learning about the latest advancements in diesel engine efficiency and the best practices in welding safety and technique has been particularly enlightening.

One major takeaway is the importance of hands-on training combined with theoretical knowledge. I plan to incorporate more practical, project-based learning into my curriculum, allowing students to work on real diesel engines and engage in welding projects. This approach will help them gain the practical skills necessary to troubleshoot and repair equipment effectively.

Additionally, I’ve recognized the value of promoting safety and best practices in both diesel and welding environments. I intend to develop workshops focused on safety protocols and equipment handling, ensuring that students not only understand the technical aspects but also prioritize safety in their work.

To share my reflection and action plan with my peers, I’ll organize a collaborative meeting where we can discuss our teaching strategies and explore ways to enhance our programs. By sharing insights and resources, we can better prepare our students for the challenges they will face in the industry.

I’m excited to implement these strategies and support the next generation of skilled diesel mechanics and welders.

You will be modeled by your class, so present yourself at the standard you would like the students to model back to you.

AS A LEADER WE ARE TO BE LEADING BY EXAMPLE. WHICH INCLUDE BEING A GOOD ACTIVE LISTENER, COMMUNICATOR, PROFESSIONAL, AND HAVING OUR DEVELOPMENTAL PLAN IN PLACE.

Showing up for your class and students which includes presenting yourself in a professional and timely manner.

Continue to learn in the profession/skill that you are teaching. Lead your students by example.

Modeling professionalism goes hand in hand with credibility as an instructor. Showing students that you care starts from day one.

Modeling will demonstrate importance in the students!

I learned to continue my professional development to grow as an instructor and in the course and myself. Additionally, practice, practice, practice.

learning how to convey enthusiasm for the subject/lesson

Always displaying integrity, value, honesty, compassion, willingness to listen learn adjust and never act like you are the smartest person in the room. First impressions will go a long way.

Lead by example. Be excited! this is my favorite course! Professionalism includes a positive mental attitude.

I learn to be an example by being early for class greeting students at the door and having a lesson plan ready to go for class.
