Language and learning are interdependent

learned difference between learning differences and challenges

Comment on Marvin Smith's post: Yes. its important to have a student mix in projects, groups to bring out the best out of the topic.

This information is repeated from previous modules. But the basic takeaway is always to differentiate your activities, ways of presenting content, and assessment to better serve students with different learning styles/preferences.

I learned more about learning preferences/styles and that although we typically have a dominant preference it can depend on what class/subject we are learning.

While not every student will succeed or take their own learning seriously, the goal should remain the same for every instructor.

NEVER assume and ALWAYS expect each student to succeed.

I taught health sciences students in the public school system last year. One of our first activities was to explore learning styles and to take a learning style assessment. It helped me as a teacher to present content in a variety of ways and helped my students learn how to study based on their prominent learning styles.

Being sensitive to student learning preferences when providing instruction and being flexible with instruction techniques where permissible can assist with students' learning, retention and success.

We can accommodate learning preferences by using varied presentation methods and allowing alternative methods to complete tasks or assignments. We can accommodate learning challenges by following outlined accommodations or individual educational plans for students who have learning challenges.

Utilize holistic assessments

I appreciate the use of varied methods of teaching when you are teaching toward a standardized test - specifically the NCLEX for nursing students.

It is important to teach in a way that taps into all the learning preferences of my students.

Identifying learning styles and motivating students to take positive advantage of such style is a rewarding  and enhancing learning technique

Comment on Stephen Chavez's post: Agree, motivating participation enhances the learning experience

Great concepts on standardization vs. inclusion

Holistic learning aims to develop all aspects of a student's potential. This approach helps our students become well-rounded individuals who can adapt to various situations in life. The focus on real-world applications of knowledge makes learning more meaningful and enhances students' understanding of the concepts. Holistic learning allows students to develop skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-direction, which are essential for lifelong learning.

Its important to emphasize intention in a variety of teaching methods, and to be constantly mindful of student to student interactions.  by creating an enviroment where learning is achieved over memorization, the students will see greater long term results

Learning preferences refer to the ways individuals prefer to learn, such as visual, auditory, or kinesthetic methods. Learning challenges, however, are obstacles or difficulties individuals may face in the learning process, such as attention deficits or language barriers.

Learning preference helps increase engagement when instruction is tailored towards those mediums preferred by the instructor's audience.
