Being passionate, greeting students, being prepared really stood out to me. Students perception of all of these matter. Also consistency and compassion, listening.

Learning is most important in classroom not teaching

Seth Soronnadi

I learned that "Instructors need to be proficient in a wide variety of areas such as learning theory, curriculum development, and human resource management. To continue to get better at any and all of these, instructors need to have a plan for how they are going to learn new information and techniques that will make them better instructors"

Think of ways to bring the content from the abstract to what is seen everyday.

It is imperative to lead by example in all you do, dress, confidence, handling student situations, being prepared. Come early and be excited, have enthausiasm for your subject. Give examples from your field experience to help motivate and show students how far they have come on their journey. Don't babysit but to have expectations and don't be a pal rather someone they can count on and learn from.

Be transparent

Lead by example.

Being creative can inspire  your students

Be transparent

Be transparent and be a good mentor

Motivate and lead by example

I was reminded of things to avoid as a new instructor. I am not a babysitter or a pal!

Utilize all of your resourses and teach with various learning styles

Leading by example is beneficial to not only students, but fellow employees as well.

Keep students engaged with enthusiasm and modeling your interest in the topic.  If you are bored with the topic and show that to your students, they will likely disengage.

Enthusiasm is essential  If we are not excited about our topic, how can we expect our students to be?

Enthusiasm is essential!

I have learned that you have to constantly look for ways to improve yourself.

Developing as an instructor is no different than developing in any other career field.  One should always be honing their craft and identifying methods to improve.

Always be professional during the first week of your course. You can never get that first week back. If you want to shift to a more relaxed style of teaching or dress after the first week, then do so based on the feedback from your students.  Don't show up like "Welcome Back Koetter", unless that is some tye of stych you are trying to portray.

I got a lot out of this module. It reminded me that I am human and can always find ways to grow but need to keep a professional attitude and continue the growth forever.  I also loved the video that was a reminder that an effective instructor does not try to prove how much they know.
