Can schools Marketing vary from one another?

Yes, they can. It is up to each school to determine what type of marketing is good for them. For instance one school may use TV or Radio for marketing. Another school may use flyers.

Clever idea!

I think a Resource Notebook is a really great idea. Compiling all of the tools you need into one notebook that you can reference is handy and will be very useful to make sure that you always stay in compliance.

Best practices

It was very useful to see some of the suggestion for how to remain up to date on the programs offered at your school. I like the idea of talking to instructors and gathering literature.

Good to know!!

This course was very important to me because it highlighted regulations which I know I will need to be very up to date on. It clarified what I can and can't say about tuition and refunds and any fees assocoiated with enrolling a student.

helpful

It is very helpful to know the topics that need to be touched on with the students. It is important to do this as the student is there.

Very Thought Provoking

Before I took this course I had no idea there was a difference between an Agent and a counselor. Without this course I may have made a big mistake and referred to myself as a counselor. This slip of the toungue could have caused some serious problems.

Terms

It is very helpful to me to have different terms identified. It allows for less confusion.

Higher Education in the year 2013 and beyond

I've spoken with a lot of students that complain a lot about needing to find a job more than they need to go back to school. I understand that not everyone is fortunate enough to maintain steady employment but what are some of the speaking points that you use to help convince perspective students that higher education is the best choice and investment for their future and their career?

3332-1-17-1(A)(10)

I noticed that an Agent cannot work for a school and a non-school employment agency. Is the main purpose of this rule to avoid an admissions rep from giving the impression about future employment options?

Telemarketing

Interesting, we have a telemarketing plan and I didn't realize that ours were actual employees of the school which they are.

Letting the Prospect Decide

As mentioned in the course thus far, I agree that it is very important to have a thorough understanding of the school you are representing. It is equally important that the representative’s knowledge and understanding is clearly and honestly communicated to prospective students. As a representative you should be presenting the options your school provides, and at that point it is up to the prospective students to evaluate whether attending your school is the right fit.

credits

how come credits cannot be transferred from to school to other?

Clarification of "approved" and "accredited"

I understand "accredited" but what are some examples or circumstances where "approved" would be used?

The importance of being current on school policies and proceedures

It is critically important to never misrepresent any aspect of your school. The Resource notebook is a an excellent resource, but it is only as good as the information maintained in it. Be sure that it always has the most current versions! How can you ensure version control?

Compliance and Staying up to Date

With rules and regulations ever changing, it is important to stay up to date on these changes. Attending meetings and reviewing the board website will help.

Understanding My Institution

If I do not understand my institution, I will not be able to provide correct information to prospective students.

credit transferability

If a student has credits, either from high school or vocational school, that are counted as college credits... how does our institute accredit them (if we even do accredit them)?

Paperwork

If a refund is given to the student for any reason, the school must keep a record of this exchange.

extra services

What is the best option for students to learn about all the extra services that the school provides beyond just the catalog?

certain information

Why is it that there is only certain information that is typically allowed in catalogs? Why does the calalog not include all information so that the student has the information and us be able to discuss what's best for the choice?
