team work

This course was helpful in my work.  Being the leader of the team and encouraging teamwork requires many tools.  This course help give me insight and tools to better do this

My Thoughts

I was thrown to the 'wolfs' early in my management career with little guidance or mentoring. This training would have given me a frame of reference and understanding about knowing that it really isn't about you success, it's really about your minions success.

This is feedback for Course Design

There was good information but the begining stated six essential traits of leaders and did not number them off. So I took notes but still can't tell you what the six traits are as they were not clearly stated. The objectives were not met in this tutorial.

best training

I have been in managment for 3 years now, this is one of the best trainings i've done!

Leading and Motivating

This course made me look at my management and leadership styles.  I realized the importance of the celebrating successes, even the little ones.  So I am coming up with little ways to celebrate the achievements of the department, my instructors, and my students and to just to say thank you for the work put in.

Challenge

What i took from this training is that i have seen these different leadership styles/traits in others without having a name to them. As in all things, i took the "good" things and threw out the "bad". I see now that some of what i thought was good was essentially a lack of leadership or using the wrong style of leadership for the wrong persons. I really appreciate the section on dealing with a challenging employee. The practice of going back to basics to determine any Knoweledge gaps that may need to be filled before i go through final steps… >>>

Being a leader isn't as easy as they maki look

A Difficult Employee

It is inevitable for leaders to encounter a pain in the neck employee.  There also comes a time when you want to just give in, the pain in the neck stays working and you resign from your job.  You need to think a million times before you do that because you will just end up being defeated.  You would not want that to hapepen - you lost your job and doing nothing at all at home.  In some way, one might consider it a full blast of release from a super difficult employee who goes overboard.

Being assertive

Being assertive in your managment style is a must, it is important to let your employees have a voice but I need to give clear direction.

Leading with influence

I think that this is a good way to look and reflect on what you are doing as a leader.  Taking the new knowledge and add them to your tool box.  Growth is necessary in leadership

SU101

I have taken this type of on line course before , great review .My action plan will be to re-evaluate my management style to ensure effective leadership. The best practice I would recommend is to look to your staff for advisement and their expertise when needing to make a decision. Challenges I have experience, is how to handle by nature negative personality types. Glass half empty.Trying to change that type of perspective.

Leadership

Knowing how to control emotions is something that can be challenging.  Even though at times you may be upset you need to maintain a professional demeanor at all times.  Your staff is easily influenced and will follow your lead, so it is always important to set a good example even at trying times.

Motivating the difficult employee

Great insight. Is it them or is it me? Having a range of outcomes & changing your ideas of what solutions may look like can be truely effective.

learning by instructing

As an instructor, I have noticed that when I am teaching a student they come up with a question that I hadn't thought of, this forces me to seek out the answer, which in turn leads me to learn something as well as the student.

Leadership Styles and Continuous Development

Through this online forum I've learned that my leadership style is affliative; which fits my personality. Most importantly, I've learned that it is a build upon and having a blanket leadership style may not deem effective based on team, project and various other factors.

Managing and supervisory

I like the participatory managing style because it gives the experience worker/students a chance for feedback and collaboration.

How This Course Will Impact My Professional Life

As a manager of a fast-food restaurant, I constantly have to deal with new team members, new products, and new operation policies. These changes create stress for everyone, including me, since it involves planning, training, and coaching. Motivating 35 employees making minimum wage is also a challenge.

I plan to combine the knowledge and skills I gained over the past 5 years – and what I have learned in this course – to improve my job performance.

Good reinforcement information

As a Trainer, putting together a progressive management skill learning and growth modules, these types of tools are a good reinforcement mechanism for both the learning process and skill mastery and growth.

Meeting

i believe effective meetings must be held weekly and include all departbents.

Learning

I found this class very informational.
