Team Leadership

This course was eye opening. It really helped me formulate some ideas about how teams can help with business grwoth next year.

Basic leadership qualities and skills

I liked this tutorial because it teaches that to be a good leader you also have to be a good and fair team player.  As a leader you need to be in charge of the group, but you also don't want to be too aggresive or too bossy or it will turn people away.  You want to interact within the group without becoming "one of the guys". There is also always room for learning and using new tools to improve your leadership abilities and skills.

What are your Ten Best Practices

Putting into action as a Leader in Academics

I love the Ten most effective traits of an effective instructor I was on the last training.

If we aren't good followers by listening and receiving feedback, it is very difficult to become a great leader.

I learned that it is important to be assertive

Being Assertive

I was just a small section, but I learned the importance of being assertive at all times

creating a daily checklist

After facilitating since 2014, I have encountered issues with not meeting certain criteria for discussion ratings. This has a negative impact of leading with influence. I have had coaching sessions with my lead faculty to ensure I correct discussioln ratings and do not appear on reports.

MY BEST CLASSROOM PLANS

I use The Seven Habits to motivate my students to always have action plans for success and to accept challenges.

I want my classroom to be one where students can leave everything outside and learn new habits to give them an

exciting new life.

Reflection

This course not only enlightened me on new leadership styles and techniques. I feel it will enhance my current leadership skills and, in turn, help me to empower my team and create a more effecient work environment. The specific differences learned in this lesson between a manager and leader helps me to value and appreciate my manager even more. Learning more about a clear vision and how it relates to the mission was also beneficial. Most importanly, I was able to take away new tactics on how to motivate people who do not follow the vision or unmotivated employees. I… >>>

Newly Promoted Associate Director

I have recently been promoted to Associate Director.  At the same time, a new Director was put into place.  We also lost our Campus President, and have lost numerous Program Director's.  There is confusion and a bit of anxiety throughout the Team.  I believe this course, and it's content on how to effectively lead my Team during this transition period, came at an opportune time.  I'm anxious to apply these skills, so that we can continue to grow and hit our goals.  It is still early in this transition, so I have no legitimate results to share.

Becoming a better supervisor.

This was a great tutorial on how to develop leadership skills. I loved the concept that everyone can be a leader not matter your position at work or your personality. Sometimes we think we have to be born with those skills or have a specific personality type to be a good leader. I liked the idea of being a member of the group and a team player but not becoming close friends. This can be hard in the work place. I want to work on not showing so much emotion and becoming more objective.

Leaders are born and can be developed

Leaders are nurturing, encouraging, energetic, and motivating. They are not sugar coaters, vague communicaotrs or ambiguous.  This course reminded me that I don't have to be warm and fuzzy all the time to be effective.

Leading with Influence

I have found that one must to be a good listiner to lead a team to be a successes and meet the challehes that will come to pass.

ML113--Group Think

Project management is a great tool for leading small events or large projects. I will use this in the office as well as for my volunteer activities.

Seven Habits

This training corresponds to the book I'm re-reading called "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey.  I've been in a new management/leadership role for just over a year now and am learning a lot.  I've frequently been in the fire and am now getting into a rhythm of leadership that seems to be successful.  I look forward to learning more on this important topic and keep improving my skills an relationship with others.
