I didn't know you could get penalized with a hefty fine if the incorrect questions are asked. You must follow all rules within compliance standards that is set by the institution, as well as regulations to keeping students and the institution open. Honesty is the best policy and providing the correct information is vital to the success of the institution.
Doing the right things means acting in the best interest of the student at all times. Although there are legal parameters and resulting consequences for violation, it is best that we are honest and transparent while respecting the requests of the students on communication and outreach. I appreciate the thorough knowledge given to remind us of the legal requirements that are in place and the value they bring to the students and how we conduct ourselves in the business of education.
I've learned the importance of following all state and federal rules and regulations, in order to maintain compliance. I also appreciated the emphasis on integrity and honesty in all aspects of your organization in order to ensure that compliance is properly followed and maintained. It was also, interesting learning about the laws regarding the ATB program and such in lieu of a HS diploma or equivalent.
Honesty is the best policy. Misrepresentation IS A NO NO!
Very helpful Module. Very import to following all rules and guidelines. Always be open and honest with your students.
Doing the right thing is good for everybody, especially students who should always be our focus.
It is so important that you go by these regulations. When you get so use to being in an industry for so long you get comfortable in thinking that you can switch thing up. But with compliance you have to make sure you stick to the rules because it not only can hurt your company, but it can also hurt the student and yourself as well.
While I understood the concept of transparency, it is interesting to see the consequences of such actions on non transparency. The school has a high level of responsibility in ensuring that all of it's employees act in the best interest of the students. It only takes one person to put the institution at risk.
What stood out for me was the do not call list. I knew about this from a prior job but the detail that goes in to it really blew my mind. That fine for $42,530, is NO JOKE.
Saying informed is required to maintain a healthy work environment, and learning the most up-to-date ways around ethics will help us do so.
My main takeaway is this. I like to get excited about the courses and school. However, no matter how much I want to brag about the school or talk about how great it is, you must remember to not make statements that are not provable by fact. For instance, I cannot say "We have the greatest program in the world." unless there is a certificate of proof.
Non-compliance not only is acting in a way that is unethical and can lead to negative ramifications for the employee, but is a massive reputational risk for the institution as a whole. It always pays off to do the right thing, even when no one is looking. Regulations are designed to keep things fair for everyone!
I was able to learn about all of the different laws under Title IV that I have not previously thought about. This information will be extremely useful in my position.
I have learned to respect state and federal regulations when contacting potential students regarding their enrollment at your institution. Make sure to have a good understanding of the "Do's and Don'ts" in higher education.
I never fully understood all the legal parts that I institute must follow. It is also very important to not cause any misunderstanding of school policies.
This topic/learning module helped reinforce the importance of the kind of honesty, transparency, and respect we owe our students as a post-secondary educational institution. I learned about how compliance with school policy, as well as federal and state laws, is essential for the continued success of the programs and school as a whole, and how vital it is to have the correct information when responding to student questions and concerns. This will make me ensure that I am always checking with others in my organization if I am ever unsure how to address any situations that arise with students, especially anything relating to how we communicate institutional standards to the students and reinforce them in our peer interactions with other faculty and staff.
Just do the right thing! Make good choices.
It is a great review of what we should and should not do when interacting with students. It is a great reminder of how important it is to follow the rules to avoid penalties and do the right thing for our students.
The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls. If a third-party telemarketer calls again, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $50,120.
Highly informative information. Really breaks down to a tea the Do's and Dont's. The penalties associated with it can be very detrimental to any institution that violates
