During this module I learned new vocabulary words. As an instructor, I always tell my students to learn new vocabulary words so he/she can increase their reading skills. Today, I learned the meaning of instructional scaffolding and junking.
I Learned how to create differnt type of online techniques that I use with my students.
For me the biggest takeaway from this module was the need for consistency. I can see how changing even small components from module to module might confuse students. I definately see myself creating and testing modules before opening them to students.
The importance of planning and creating a course module template, testing the template, revising, and implementing. Implementation should also be from the student perspective. Modules should be consistent from module to module.
Course modules should be consistent and easy to follow. They should also be similar in length. Course materials should be kept in an organized fashion and made readily available for students to access. I plan to take a look at my on-line modules for my course to ensure consistency, length or organization.
Creating and sharing a learning-object Database can make your life a ton easier the next time you teach a course.
I believe in consistency also framework. I also have used chunking in a classroom setting and believe it will be a great advantage with online instruction. In my profession 5-10 min. film clips work the best.
Being consistant is key to students success
I learned that we should keep a file of "learning objects" which can be easily accessed.
Two things I learned are consistency & preparedness>
I learned that developing a course framework is important for students in the learning process. It should be done with careful planning to ensure thatr the course content supports the course learning objective.
That it is important to keep the modules consistent. Stare learning material in the database to provide easy Quik access to material.
The most important thing I learned is creating templates, and organizing contents appropriately.
I learned that students need to have way to find all the information they need in simple layout. Everything needs to be outline for the students on the expectations of distance learning.
That all learning modules should have the same format.
I have learned developing a course work can assist students un teh learning process. What really happens the student in course work is consistency. Through the course work and audeince analysis can be deteremined which focuses on the students base knowledge and students learning needs.
To appropriately relate content and subject matter to the student learner, it is incumbent that I have have a comprehensive and current understanding of using learning systems to facilitate the needs of my students.
I have learned that each course or module should be done and organized the same way. This lessens confusion and helps the student to become familiar with the course outline. Course consistancy is major.
Reply to Kevin Short's post: I agree Kevin that modules are easier to follow if the format is consistent. Since most people attention span is somewhat short, chunking assignments would definiely be the preferred form of delivery.

Going from the classroom to online is going to be different for all of us. Making sure my resources are easy to access and make available to the students. It will be important to break the lessons into smaller chuncks, since I will not be able to see when the students are starting to get distracted or confused by the material.
