This is a general discussion forum for the following learning topic:

Using Technology to Engage and Educate --> Manage, Share and Organize Information

Post what you've learned about this topic and how you intend to apply it. Feel free to post questions and comments too.

Technology is a very helpful tool in the classroom. It keeps us up to date in the world and speaks to the younger generation than traditional treaching. It is also amazing that students can access classes/information in a way they could not before.

This module is very infornative . Lots if resources for innovative teaching.

great material

There are a lot of resources that I have never seen before. I want to look more into these and see how these can implemented into my current lectures.

I will try ZOHO Notebook with my students.

Using technology to data gather is a useful area for preliminary and usually broad focused concepts. To refine technology data gathering, I find it useful for students to contact industry experts and ask questions based on their data research.

I did not know about some of technologies. I am going to learn more about them and try to use them for the purpose of my students.

I use some of these regularly and others I have used in the past. Good to know about a few others but this module felt like a sales pitch. Always good to incorporate technology in the classroom environment

AI platforms are becoming extremely popular and teachers are allowing students to utilize it to create documents. One of the issues that  I am experiencing with my students is plagiarism, students no longer want to brainstorm ideas and then utilize the AI platform for additional information or development.  One of the strategies that caught my eyes while reviewing the course is encouraging students to brainstorm ideas, and then use the AI (prezi AI) to enhance the document. For example when students are preparing resumes/letters, they can create a  skeleton resume and then transfer it to the AI platform for enhancement.  In this way, the AI will more likely stay within the constraints of the information presented to it.  An alternative strategy is to ask students to analyze or evaluate what the AI presented  especially if the AI creates the document from scratch.

Comment on Aidan McFall's:

Defining terms is important, as it enables students to understand and to practice communicating  the terms relating to the job especially in the field of technology. This also makes conversations more fluent and it helps to expedite activities..  It also makes  it easier to understand information and carry out responsibilities, especially when they enter the workforce.  Additionally, employers, supervisors feel more comfortable when employees utilise the language pertaining to the job, management feels more confident when designating positions. Individuals can also come across  as being knowlegeable and well informed

Thank you for defining basic terms. I knew that cache needed to be cleaned up periodically, but I didn't know how the information came to be stored on a device. I appreciate these definitions! ...sharing information outside of a LMS has issues RE privacy and laws protecting student privacy - always be advised before forming groups on the internet.

Lots of resource links I've never heard of. I will check them out!

This module introduced me to a range of apps and websites that can help engage and support student learning. Exploring different strategies and technologies gave me new ideas for improving the learning experience—especially in an online environment.

I have learned that students should be able to learn various ways and technology can be instrumental in assisting them.

I am learning about various tools that are available to improve learning and engagement.

While I see how this could be helpful in a regular school setting, in a prison setting, they are not allowed access to the internet. The state is developing a network of things they can allowed to access through tablets, they are having difficulties with internet reliability and whitelisting issue (how to keep the residents from accessing unauthorized websites through whitelisted websites.

In this time in age, more millennial college students are using more technology, so in order to help keep them interested in the course lessons as instructors we should be using the latest media to teach.

I was able to bookmark and save several applications to help presentations more presentable and organized, which helps to encourage student for active engagement.

Presentations found on SlideShare are often used to conduct research and connect with others to collaborate on projects; users have the option of uploading content publicly or privately, so information can be shared with a small class or with students and educators from around the world.
