Activity

To maintain students attention I need to keep eye contact, move around the classroom with out excessive pacing.

What's in it for me whas a great section. Thinking from the students perspective and giving clearity by giving examples of how this information is relevant to the field will keep the students engaged. Also the late assignments section was a big issue from the high school level and laying out the expectations and missing/late work policy is big. Sticking to this policy is just as important.

CATs are a great way to evaluate where a student stands. We can then build off of their existing knowledge and skill level.

This section gave me insite in asking questions to build the students level of understand.

Learning the students preferred learning style early on will help them be successful. Blending students with different learning styles in group activities could assist on peers assisting with eachother grasping concepts.

Having compassion for the subject you are teaching shows to the students they will be more engaged. Proper planning on the instructional side will help give clarity and will also assist on showing the students that you are dedicated and actually care about the information you are giving out.

Eventually getting burnt out whether its me and the studets. I need to remember REFOCUS. This can help me get or give some inspiration to keep our eyes on why we are ultimately here.

Creating an open, engaging enviroment for all students.

I have learned that working with adults that have life experiences and previous work history. We can use this existing knowledge and build off of that to assist in them grasping different concepts quickly. We can utilize these older adults in groups to assist with the younger students since most students can be more receptive to their peers than instructors.

Using a variety of delivery methods to ensure all the students accommodations are met. Also I believe that mini-lectures are great to implent into the lectures so the students are less likely to zone out or lose interest.
