Listening is one of the greatest principles in education. As this is a two-way street, students listen to instructors and instructors apply the same behavior. Some instructors listen but without value and this can be a turn-off for students. This module incorporate many reasons for being an effective listener.

Instructors should appropriate methods and strategies to building rapport with students to increase engagement and learning.

Students learning from Students is most empowering and less intimidating.

You're absolutely right! Empowering students to take an active role in their learning fosters critical thinking, engagement, and deeper understanding. Instead of restricting technology, integrating it effectively can enhance the learning experience, providing students with diverse resources and opportunities to explore topics in new and interactive ways. Encouraging them to use technology responsibly helps them develop essential digital literacy skills that are crucial in today’s education system and beyond.

When students feel heard and valued, their confidence grows, making them more willing to take risks, ask questions, and stay motivated. Strong rapport also allows educators to better understand individual needs and adapt their approach to foster meaningful connections and a positive learning experience.

Student empowering starts with an instructor actively listening.

I have learned that the involvement of students and receiving feedback and ideas regarding content delivery is really very important for their optimal learning. Developing Courtesy, Respect , Rapport, utilization of Technology must be practiced and applied for student learning success and to develop soft skills that will be very helpful in their careers as well. Effective listening on the part of instructor gives the students, a sense that their thought are valuable and give the instructor knowledge of what the students needs, so they are able to make required changes in their lesson plans or the way of delivery.

The value of students feling valued cannot be overstated.

Students developing and expressing a vision which is aligned with success in the course and their education goals is significant in empowering students to take ownership of their success. Students are more prone to invest in a course due a professor that they trust and revere; active listening, professor investment in the student, and student engagement are tools that can be used to bolster student empowerment and investment.

Students need to feel like they are in control of their own learning and destiny.

Students need to be valued and an instructor can make sure that happens helping them be more motivated in the course.
