About me

I am a Florida State licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and currently Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education for the PTA program here at Concorde Career Institute, Miramar, FL.

I am also going to be teaching the PTA students about half of the technical term curriculum and I am eager to learn how to be an effectve teacher in the classroom setting.

I have extensive experience with clinical education and several certification courses over the years of my practice, but this is my first time in a formal career educational setting.

Comment on Antarpreet Kang's post: Absolutely! Assignments for adult learners should be meaningful, engaging, and designed to promote critical thinking and real-world application. Busy work can be discouraging, whereas challenging, thought-provoking tasks encourage deeper learning and skill development. Providing opportunities for collaboration and research allows students to apply their knowledge in practical ways, making learning more relevant and impactful. When students see the value in their assignments, they become more motivated and invested in their education.

You're absolutely right! Empowering students to take an active role in their learning fosters critical thinking, engagement, and deeper understanding. Instead of restricting technology, integrating it effectively can enhance the learning experience, providing students with diverse resources and opportunities to explore topics in new and interactive ways. Encouraging them to use technology responsibly helps them develop essential digital literacy skills that are crucial in today’s education system and beyond.

Comment on cynthia Whiting's post: Absolutely! Creating a supportive and trusting environment helps students feel safe to express themselves and engage more deeply in their learning. When students feel heard and valued, their confidence grows, making them more willing to take risks, ask questions, and stay motivated. Strong rapport also allows educators to better understand individual needs and adapt their approach to foster meaningful connections and a positive learning experience.

Comment on Dulce Cazares's post: I like to use Kahoot.com for they to create questions for their peers and lead the process for a certain topic. This often gets them engaged to learn the material better to be able to teach it

I've recently completed a BSBHCM fully online and it was a very interesting experience to say the least. I am glad I did it, but the concept of internship virtually has always boggled my mind, particularly for settings like physical therapy or medical rehabilitation. I like the disavantages listed here because it opened my mind to a few challenges I didn't consider before.

Definitely new to the idea, but also think it's a great way to incorporate social media!

I agree, but my main issue is, no matter the type of rubric, students just don't follow it! Very frustrating

True for PTAs too, but often I find the states are not on the same page with employment rates and other issues, so, often may hinder the interst of a potential student looking about the forums.
