This module reinforces the importance of career coaching as more than just simply helping students find job placements, but involves building relationships, helping students identify their strengths & interests. Career coaches also help set realistic goals & guiding them in developing workplace ready skills

This module helped me see how powerful coaching conversations can be when I slow down and really listen. I plan to use more open-ended questions, guide students through the GROW process, and focus less on giving answers and more on helping them think through their own decisions.

I learned to start with clear goals for WBL data and plan to track participation better to improve student experiences and outcomes

This emphasized how important it is to build strong relationships with students through trust, empathy, and active listening. When students feel supported and understood, they're more likely to succeed. It also highlighted the value of empowering students to take ownership of their goals, helping them make informed decisions based on their strengths and interests rather than solving problems for them.

This course reinforced that building a meaningful coaching relationship with a student is crucial. It requires intentional care, genuine empathy, and the purposeful development of trust and rapport. Lasting impact begins when students feel truly seen, heard, and supported.

From this module, I learned that one of the most important aspects of the coaching relationship is building rapport with students so they feel genuinely connected and supported. Applying Carl Rogers’ human-centered approach, particularly the principle of unconditional positive regard, helps ensure that students feel heard, respected, and effectively guided.

Building a rapport with your studnet is key to their success.

This module reminded me to listen for goals over problems. We must collaborate with students to help them make informed decisions based on their interests and needs that lead them to their goals.

Unconditional positive regard, active listening, and empathy are key aspects needed from career coach to build great rapport with students and help them succeed.

The refresher of shifting ownership back to the student instead of attempting to fix the challenge for them is what resonates most for me.  Also, the small interactions matter in order to build trust.

From this module I learned to empower students by recognizing the discoveries of their own strengths, interests, and values. This will help connect to their own career choices they need to make.

This course was a powerful reminder that building a meaningful coaching relationship with a student is not transactional: it requires intentional care, authentic empathy, and the deliberate cultivation of trust and rapport. True impact begins when students feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported.

This topic has taught me a lot about how to meet the students where they are and be a coach they want to keep building a relationship with to support them get to their ideal state. Coaching the students to empower them rather than to manage them was insightful.

Students and coaches can address several areas, including making a career change, preparing a job application, negotiating an offer, or reflecting on what's working in their current role. This partnership will lead to great success.

Career coaching has many components, and several identified critical factors can have immense impact on its effectiveness.

The course reminded me that mentor-student communication thrives the same as in most interpersonal relationships; proceeding with curiosity instead of preconceived notions is the key to growth.

I learned that the career coaching process has little to do with managing student behavior or telling them what to do, rather it is guiding the individual to take action on their own and providing the proper support on the way to achieving their professional goals. This requires an assessment of their interests, motivations, and barriers to action, in order understand how to best assist them in doing so.

This module emphasized the importance of establishing rapport with students. It highlighted that comprehending their individual personalities and requirements is essential for effectively guiding them through their job search process.

Building a relationship with the students is a plus when helping to assist them.
