For FERPA as a staff you are not allowed to give any student access to anyone for any reason to not parents or no outside sources.
FERPA gives the student control over the disclosure of record information, access to records, and the opportunity to seek to have records amended.

FERPA is the party that regulates the private handeling of students information. The same way HIPPA regulates our medical records.
I learned that FERPA protects the privacy of student education records and I will apply it by handling all student information carefully.

FERPA is a law that protects the privacy of student educational records. Student records are as important as medical and other personal records. They deserve confidentiality. I intend to adhere to FERPA to maintain privacy for others.
From this module, I learned the key elements of FERPA, including what information is protected under the law and what is not. I will apply FERPA in my daily work at ECPI to help ensure and protect students’ privacy.

Understanding what FERPA means...the importance of protecting a student's privacy.
FERPA is essential for the protection of students' personal and academic records.
From this module I have learned the key components that make up FERPA. As well as learning what is and isn't protected under this federal law. I will be using FERPA in my day-to-day activities while working for ECPI to protect students' privacy.
I tended to think of FERPA in relation to keeping student records private and secure. This module has increased my awareness of the requirements to respond to a student's request to access their own record.
