I learned that supportive measures aren't necessarily disciplinary actions. Also that criminal investigations and school investigations are separate.

I learned that reports don't always require a formal complaint or investigation.

I learned that Title IX protects students and employees from sex discrimination and that VAWA stands for the Violence Against Women Act (1994).

Treat students equally. It's important to recognize potential barriers, respect confidentiality, and follow approved accommodations.

I found it interesting that Universal Design benefits everyone. It promotes independence and helps reduce stigma.

Disabilities aren't always visible and each disability can affect learning differently.

I learned that colleges must provide reasonable accommodations, but the students generally must request the accommodations first.

I found it interesting that government officials and law enforcement do not automatically have access to student records. Information must only be disclosed when legally permitted.

I learned that an unpaid tuition balance doesn't eliminate FERPA rights.
