Being an online instructor includes more than just presenting content to the students.  I needs to be an ongoing "conversation" with the students to ensure they are learning the objectives of the class as well ensuring that the technical aspects of the course are being met with no problems.  It can be very frustrating to the student when their system is not working properly so the instructor needs to be able to mediate and get the student the help they require for successful completion of the course.

What i recieved by this course was there is alot of pros working online but some students tend to get frustrated while working online and i should try to come up with ways to easy access all the assignments to i wont confuse them. I also gained knowledge on the interaction with students ive gained many forms of communication with the students while on an online course.

I appreciate how much more structured everything will be for not only the students but instructors as well. Very detailed.

To be able to support our students online, we should be able to use Teams or Zoom whichever the campus uses.

Course structure is critical. Expectations must be clear. Students need teaching and technical support.

I will learn CMS and how to be a efficient online teacher and in class

I have learned more about how to actively engage students, call them by name, and help them master the material.

This was very informative on the structure, facililitaton, and support regarding the online education environment.

I have learned that as an instructor we need to be as familiar with the course management system as our students.

I learned that it is vital to familiarize yourself with your CMS as online educator so you can actively assist students. While knowing information from your own studies, it is helpful to regularly review the curriculum as it allows the educator to affectively deliver information in ways students will relate.

while instructors are subject matter experts, we still have a lot to learn in the online teaching realm. Technology will continue to evolve, and we will always be students of the online learning community.

I learned that technology and e-learning are imperative to the success of students.

I especially liked the checklist of items under "comprehending the course delivery format".  These would be excellent considerations when designing a new course and thinking about the delivery of the content.  I have designed courses before but never really approached them from a structural format.

I have learned that keeping up-to-date contact with students (announcements or small videos) are a good way to let the students know you are available and eager to engage with them throughout the course.

Comment on Holly Voss's post: I completely agree with structure of the content.  If the course is not structured well, students will have issues with navigating the content.

There are many different e-structures, all designed to help students and instructors best work together.  Because of this, instructors need to familiarize themselves with the platform prior to teaching the course.

I think it is important to make sure the student understands the parameters of the course, particularly computer requirements. In addition, you want to make sure that the students know we are here to support them, and that there is a person on the other end.

I learned about the importance of learning support and to pay attention to what my contract requires of me. I appreciated the item discussing the turnaround time for student inquiries.

I learned how important it is to familiarize yourself with the course elements. Teachers approach instruction in different ways, but the students need consistency. They need to know what to expect.

You cant just jump into teaching a course online even if you have taught it in person, must become familiar with the course platform and options.
