Service learning allows students to interact with the community and apply their knowledge and skills in communication and professional conduct.

Each of my classes incorporates a service-based application into our final. These live applications allow students to be involved in their communities or campuses and apply what they have learned to real-world events.

I teach adults in a post high school facility and many just go with the flow, getting them out in the community helps them see the 'other side' so to speak and shows them if they really want to continue on the path they choose, Vet med-. Not all will want to do farm calls and likewise for those who want to work in a practice where the animals come to them.

I teach at a District career and technology center. I have our local animal shelter bring in dogs and cats for spaying or neutering. The students assist during surgery, monitor anesthesia, and give injections.

Teaching and demonstrating the effectiveness of reach out programs, community health, networking, and engaging in the community is a positive educational experience for all types of students. This approach allows a well rounded educational experience.

Service learning is an important aspect of our lives and culture. It's a valuable approach to learning that benefits students and the community.

Service learning allows students to apply what they have learned in classroom/lab and transfer those skills to a real-life setting. This engages students with members of the community, builds relationships, and enhances professional development skills in a practical, hands-on way.

The importance of service learning spans across all educational disciplines and should be incorporated into the curriculum.

I teach a night class for the community.

I teach in a practical nursing program.  The students come from a variety of backgrounds an each brings a unique set of ideas about community needs and potential projects.  In addition to classroom time, the students attend a clinical learning component at a local hospital.  The students are a rich resource for gaining knowledge of local community service projects.

Will be a great additional tool

I encourage my students to volunteer at local outreach programs that provide dental services.

I am 1 of the instructors at a South Florida HVAC trade school. I am grateful to have this position since graduation. I get to meet a new group every few months from all walks of life. Some hands on and some not. Being a good person is a key to there success i tell them. If they take what we teach them and engage in life and all the opportunities around them with the knowledge they now have its a winning combination. So, being a overall good person and working with your family, friends and community plus a good reputation is the start of building a great brand/name in the future. Don't burn bridges. #givingback #grateful #humble

Direct and indirect service learning projects will benefit both the students and the community.

It is a wonderful idea for participants to come up with their own project ideas. generating immediate buy-in and making the most of their passion for working toward a result they think desirable.

Problem solving is task that needs to be taught and reinforced.

I teach in a vocational school environment in the Medical Office Administration program.  It is essential that students learn to be critical thinkers as the medical field is very busy.  Students will be multitasking which also requires them to be active listeners.

The idea of participants to generate their own project ideas is good.  Creating instant buy-in and takes full advantage of their pasion for to work towards an outcome they deem valuable.

Service learning is a constant part of my program. helping the community and letting the students see the real world application give them a rewarding experience

Service Learning is an important part of the classroom.
