I think through CTE we have the opportunity to engage with our students in many ways. Through our communication, our instruction, and our ability to connect with each student on their level we provide a path for them to be more successful in there learning environment.
Developing a good student-teacher relationship is the cornerstone of student engagement. When students feel valued and believe that you want them to succeed, they will become more engaged.
I think the teacher-student relationship is one of the most important components of teaching. Establishing that connection will allow you to learn more about them, their strengths, their weaknesses, and their learning abilities. This information helps you determine which resources can make the classroom more engaging and helps you, as the teacher, understand student needs.
Using these learning resources will also help you create assignments and a classroom environment that supports effective learning for all. Accessibility is a hot topic right now. Reviewing the resources available on CAST.org has helped me assess the materials I develop and remove as many obstacles as possible in the learning process.
