Why is it important for instructors to ask learners to orally defend why they answered a question or solved a problem as they did?

In the Nuclear Navy, assurity would be tested by asking the student if they would "Bet a coke/soda on it".  Sometimes the student was "sure enough in his answer" to say yes... and the student or instructor would buy a soda and provided it to the winning party.  More often than not, the student was wrong... but not always, and at time the instructor would pay out just to test the student.

Sometimes the student wasn't sure enough in his answer, and would go "look it up" either confirming his knowledge, or correcting it.

OF course, the military does lead to "life or death" situations, whereas the civilian world doesn't have such stringent reliance on individual knowlege, and such "betting on a knowledge fact, with payouts" is probably frowned upon by academia".

This lesson has taught me that learners never outgrow the idea that being rewarded is a great motivator.

Having learners earn badges is a great way to increase motivation to learn and maintain student engagement. Keeping the students hands on and busy with F2F conversations Keeps students from becoming complacent and boosts their moral

I learned that a flipped classroom helps students engage more through active learning. I plan to apply it by using videos for pre class work and class time for hands on activities and discussions.

Concepts will aid in the learning experience in the flipped classroom.

I have found that oral assessments allow for more in-depth assessment of students' knowledge. It takes a significant amount of time, but allows for a dialogue of learning.

I perform knowledge assessments and then decide the best education to provide them. Afterwards, I always provide a survey to

I love the idea of the classroom as a collaborative learning space.

I like the idea of a flipped classroom, but it won't happen in my situation. I can perhaps take some principles and apply them to my situation, but it would take much thought and organizing.

I learned that when we use ATI, we are using predictive learning and that this has other applications outside of ATI. I guess I really thought this was unique to this program.

The basics of good course design and structure are the same for flipped and traditional classrooms.

Hello! From this fourth module I keep the following ideas: making teaching-learning strategies explicit (socialize them with the course), evaluation as a learning tool (not only for testing) and adapting the teaching proposals to the different technopedagogical profiles. Greetings from Córdoba, Argentina!

I learned most from the guidance on overcoming learning resistance in this module. Change can be challenging to cope with and to understand the benefits of such change. I like the suggestions on preventing or reducing learning resistance, such as making learning activities relevant to real-world applications and providing timely feedback through transparent communication.

Keep the students hands on and busy with ftf conversations is always a plus. I don't love lectures and this seems like a great way to keep students awake and involved. Plus it saves a lot of time.

The idea of a flipped classroom appeals to me because I've always been a teacher who runs a project-based classroom. I believe the hands-on approach of flipped classrooms allow the students and teacher to collaborate, learn through different modalities, and exercise their learning strengths.
