Areas Ignored during Internal Audits

What areas are very important but are mostly ignored during internal audits?

Learning

I learned that the catalog to your school, must have up to date information, and that it must be approved.

FAPSC training

The FAPSC training has a lot of great knowledge to gain from, and with rules and regulations consistently being updated, it is important to always stay up to date on the current policies and procedures.

This training helped me see the importance of staying updated on school rules, policies, and the catalog.

it's not just about compliance, but about giving students the best experience.

Hearing different perspectives also gave me useful ideas for real situations.

I learned that the titles "Administration Representative'' and "Agent" are slightly different and are not necessarily interchangeable.

Disclosure vs. Representation in In-Person Communication

This topic is especially relevant for schools with in-person operations. Sometimes, casual conversations between staff and students can be interpreted as official disclosures, which may lead to compliance concerns. We are reinforcing the importance of clear communication and proper documentation to ensure that all information provided aligns with institutional policies. I’d love to hear how other schools are handling this in day-to-day interactions.

Disclosure vs. Representation

The definitions are still unclear to me.  Disclosure: published, factual statement that institutions are required to provide to students versus Rep: statements (either verbally or in writing) made by staff members to students.  Quiz question answer I got it wrong because I thought it didn't need to be documented.  However, under school representative info, it was written that "regardless of inquiry, school representatives must provide accurate and complete responses that can be documented.

Persons with Disabilities

Important to be mindful of our intent to be supportive to the student through "counsel" is OUT of our scope of practice.

Also, it's important to know who the appropriate resources are at the institution.

The Impact of Disability

I find this to be an "eye opener". Specifically, bringing increased awareness to the fact that not all disabled individuals have a "visible" disability; yet, it is important to remember they warrant the same consideration.

Students with Disabilities

I found it interesting that a dog is considered to provide "service" to a someone with history of seizure, such as physical support; yet, a cat is NOT considered a "service" animal, even if it provides the individual with the "service" of emotional support.

I didn’t realize a student had the right to their information without the consent of their parents with out permission of the student. Despite the parents paying the bill
