Compliance

Compliance, compliance, compliance! This is so important when dealing with an educational institution. Rules and regulations are put into place in order to avoid lawsuits, satisfy customers, and provide the best quality for your institution. It also creates a standardized framework for all employees so they can do their jobs effectively and efficiently in the most organization and compliant way as possible.

Admission and Financial Aid

It is very important as a representative to know the details of the financial aid process when you are dealing with prospective students. However you have to be sure that you only discuss those things that are in compliance with the rules and regulations of the state requirements. Students must know that there is financial aid services available for those who qualify, but representatives are unable to project the amount the student could receive.

Frequency of Changes

Has anyone noticed how often the State actually makes changes? It seems that one month intervals are the recommended time frame for checking on new information, but from those of you with some experience, how often have you seen recognizable changes occur?

keeping updated on other schools' info

As an agent or admissions rep, I believe it would be important to stay up to date on what other schools in the area offer, as well as their strengths and weaknesses in order to know what edge your school may have. Has anyone had experience with this?

Accreditation

There was a few different types of accreditation titles shown. Ours was not listed there, makes me wonder how many different types of accrediations ohio offers. And can a institution be recgonized from multiple agencys?

Student Services Dept.

I found this section to be interesting because I did not realized that things like our library/resource center is manditory.

Placements and Graduation Rates

I did not realize that schools need to provide placement and graduation rates from the past 3 years. We do provide rates here- but didn't no it was the past 3 yrs. Is this a combined percentage or should they be divided not only by program but by year as well?

Resource Notebook

I look forward to completing my resource notebook so I have a quick snap shot of all of our required documents.

Rules and Regulations

I like having a Resource guide, at my side helping me learn the entire compliance rules for Ohio.

resource notebook

It does help to have a resource notebook. That is a good idea.

Compliance refresher

There are many policies and procedures that are not new or surprising to me but some were ones that I never really thought about. Once I read through the course, it was nice to see some of those topics come up to bring them back to the front of my mind and actively be conscious of them and re-realize their importance. Were ther any topics like that for you?

staying up to date

Does anyone have one have any ideas on how to stay up to date on rules?

texting

Does anyone text prospective students?

how do you organize your paperwork??

I'm curious to know how everyone else is organzing your paperwork? I have to binders I keep plus and "orginals" file incase my binders go "missing."

Out of state reps

It was very interesting to know that a rep from another state has to be licensed within the state of ohio to talk to a perspective student.

Training

Training, is never ending, it is a tool that we all must utilize and take advantage of as it can definaltely bring about success.

Catalogue

The catalogue must be given to all students so they can refer to the laws and bi laws of school. And know the cost, curriculum, and courses as a tangiable means.

Admissions Reps from out of State schools must be licensed in Ohio

It was good to discover that Admissions Reps who recruit Ohio students must be licensed in Ohio also.

Accreditation

Our school is currently nationally accredited. We are in the process of hopefully becoming regionally accredited. It is a task to stay on top of both accreditations and give students accurate information. Our administration is very good about sending us updates and letting us know what to say to prospective and current students.

Texting/Social Media

I work primarily with high school senior and recent grads. We found a great way to contact students is using social media like Facebook and Twitter or texting. Texting students is a great way to get in touch with students who may not like talking on the phone and prefer to text or are simply out of minutes. Social media has also been a great resource. If we are looking for another way to contact a student, simply looking up the student by their email address is a good way to reach out to them.
