CONTINOUS TRAINING

I believe continous training is necessary for Student Reps because it give us the on going knowledge we need to become more helpful with our students. What do you think?

Conflict of Interest

I agree with and appreciate the laws regarding knowing basics about financial aid and other tuition assistance but then referring to a separate department for specifics. Integrity above all includes not selling financial aid/scholarships for enrollment.

Information

Should we limit the exposure we have to information that we are not permitted to share with prospective students? The concern is that information may slip out that could result in disciplinary actions. It is also nice to have as much information as possible, but there is a lot of risk associated with having answers that cannot be shared.

Are the "lead companies" subject to the same regulations as the schools utiziling their services are?

Refunds on Books

There are updates to textbooks that render previous versions useless. There could be a case wherein a student seeks a refund on an unused book, yet the semester has begun and the book is going to be updated before the next time the course is offered. Since it is too late for another student to have the need for that edition, will the student receive a refund?

Be honest

It is important to be honest and ethical about transfer of credits. We all know it is up to the receiving institution and I am not afraid to tell a student or his/her parents that it is up to the receiving institution. But make sure you let them know that our students work in their field upon graduating. I found that is helpful. So always stay ahead of the game as to what graduation rates are, placement rates, etc.

Know your school and different departments

It is very essential to know your school and all the different departments your school has to offer. You want to leave a potential student feeling that they are excited about enrolling. So it is best to stay knowledgeable of all the different careers associated with the different programs.

Enrollment

For example, you have a student who has ADHD, should you still enroll student if he/she is interested in program, and you as a admission representative has a gut feeling that this is not a good fit for student?

What other way would you market school besides commercials, presentations and billboards?

Didnt know

I didn’t know the enrollment agreement needed a student signature...

Clock hours vs. Credit hour

The school with whom I am employed uses a clock hour program. I found it very interesting to learn about the difference in policy between a clock hour school and a credit hour school, in terms of tuition refunds.

Agent Requirements "Good Info"

Going through the first section of the course provide much needed and great information on becoming an agent "admissions" rep. This information was very useful and I know will only help me in my current position. Good stuff!!
