Advertising

What do you think are the most successful forms of advertisment?

New to the Admissions Role

I have never been in Admissions before. Is there any words of advice or tips that I can use to be successful in this role?

Diploma Mills

Has anyone sat with a student and they presented a diploma from a diploma mill? What did you do?

New Position in Admissions but not an Admissions Rep

I have been promoted to Business Development Representative. In my role, I will secure non-title IV funding for students. I will also be responsible for organizing and developing relationships with state agencies, employers and military organizations to possibly create leads for Admissions Representatives. So why is agency traning a requirement?

New to admissions

I am new to the field of admissions. I have worked previously at larger universities in continuing education. Any words of advice as I start the next chapter of my career?

Compliance

It seems that in todays age with all the schools that are offering programs, it is very important to know that you are compliant. It makes you have trust in the school you work for as well. Also compliance of all rules can give you job security.

Knowing your Stuff!!!!

I think it is very vital to your job as well as the institution for you to know every aspect of what you do in admissions. Sometimes the best experience can come from being a previous student or current.

Importance of honesty

I think its very important to keep the honesty with the student and informing them of everything even if it wasnt required of the state. This builds good rapport and credibility for the school and yourself.

Diploma Mills

I can appreciate that there are strict regulations in place for diploma mills. It keeps legitimate schools like ours in good standing. :-)

The Importance of Keeping Up-to-Date Information

It is crucial to maintain up-to-date information in order to be the best agent or admissions representative that you can be. Being informed on updated rules, laws, poclicies, etc. will ensure that you are doing your job correctly, which will then benefit prospective students.

Double check your work!

It is important to double check your paperwork in order to maintain a smooth process for both the student and yourself. Double checking helps avoid unecessary mistakes and questions, and helps the enrollment process to move in an organized, swift fashion.

Being the change that alot of students are looking for...

I would like to say I believe this is a very rewarding career that you get to impact peoples lifes by being the first contact to a new future and pairing them up with all resources and people needed to succeed. This takes a team effort and with a great start they will have a fablous ending.

Maintaining Integrity

Integrity is a fundamental attribute, that I live by. So in the workplace this is very easily adhered to. Giving full disclosure should always be at the fore front of presenting a student with information that will effect there lives in the future. Students look to College personnel as advocates and rely on the information given to be reliable. The gainful employment regulation is a great bench mark for determining whether certain programs can lead to gainful employment in a certain field. So integrity is the key to success in higher education.

Admissions

With all of the Objections that Admissions Reps have heard, What is the most difficult one that you have had to deal with especially when it is right on the breaking point on whether the prospective student will enroll or not? How did you handle it within the proper rules and regulations of your Institution?

Board Compliance Recommendations

What recommendations do you have for a new school owner when it comes to complying with the State Board's rules and regulations?

Social Media

Different marketing strategies are key in schools being successful, especially now when everything is so technologically oriented. I think that social media is going to play a huge role in advertising for different schools and can be very successful. I wonder if this will be taken into consideration and if advertising on these types of sites will become more regulated eventually.

Enrollment

After going through this section, I have decided to keep all of this information in a booklet. It is definitely a lot of informtion, so I need to keep it organized.

The Resource Notebook Idea

I am a newbie Admissions Representative and I have previously saved all my paper work and in a way created a binder and then during my Ohio training I've noticed that it focused a lot on the idea of creating the notebook that I could have by me at all times. I think this is a great idea that could help out a lot. I would probably just want to have some guidance as to what sections to put in the notebook and what order I could have all the important papers organized in so I, in a way, could have a set outline that way my work is done smoothly.

Resource LIst

I am so appreciative of the resource list! This made it possible for me to ensure that my resource book has everything I need as a new agent. I also got to ask questions about my current school that had not been answered yet in training. I hope others are finding this process just as informative.

Marketing Strategies

It is intriguing reading this sections information and thinking back on how other schools promote and advertise their programs. At the time it does not look regulated but it is good to know that for the most part rules are being followed by the pamphlets and mailers I get. As an Agent it is good to see that answers prospective students need can be at my fingers tips via my schools marketing plan.
