It is very important that you understand your institution so that you know exactly what you are presenting to prospective students.

In theory, a higher enrollment fee ensures more students showing up on the first day of class because they've already made an investment. But it can also discourage enrollment for some students.

Admissions Resource Notebook

The Resource Notebook is a great tool because policies and procedures are always changing. If you have record of important, if not all required policies, you have refer to it as needed. I print off everything important and place into a file because I will always need to refer to something sooner than later.

Knowing Your Stuff

It is so important to look knowledgeable when a prospective student is looking for information. However, never guess at anything; misinformation, even innocently, can ruin trust and possibly drive away the potential. The resource notebook is your saving grace. Even if you don't know the answer, off the top of your head, having a reference handy that does shows that you are on your game.

Admissions Newbie

Hello all. I'm a career changer and new to admissions, but very excited to be involved in helping others shape their futures. Even though I come from years of retail store management, one of my focuses, when guiding my employees, was to make their goals and aspirations my own. If they wanted to pursue an education, my support and encouragement was integral in maintaining a positive relationship and continuing their dedication to our company's mission. Yes, ultimately, they would leave and move on to another opportunity, but I knew that my attention to them would foster their future relationship with us as a consumer. Very much in the same fashion, heeding the call to be compliant with Ohio's provisions and following "the rules" at my college, ensures that each of my student's experiences remain consistent, equitable, and ultimately successful. In most ways, I am on the other end of an already paved path of support I've always given to people interested in pursuing an education. Glad to be here.

Ongoing Training

Having Trainings and team building experiences will definitly help when having to understand the work we do...even if the school as a whole dont hold them the indiviual teams should. What are your thought?

It is important to know what your job duties are. Being a part of student service is to be aware of what the college offers and to help the students and potential students. It is imporant as student service coordiators to know as much information about the college that they can.

Services

It is importnant for students to be aware of the extra assistace. Students need to be aware and attend sessions such as orientation. It is also helpful to be aware of services such as academic assistance, housing career services, and learning resource centers. Having students take advantage of services can help a studet tremendously.
