Mindy, At a minimum, students should be advised that any type of criminal record may affect their future emplyment prospects. Of course its difficult to say what type of criminal conviction would automatically disqualify a student from certain types of future employment. For example, some employers may use a DUI convidtion as a disqualifier but others may not. John Ware

Rene, There are no rules against tutoring students prior to testing. John Ware
Henry, Good point. The enrollment agreement is the contract between the student and the school and its important that the student understand whats in the contract. John Ware
Jason, Do you think its a case of "information overload"? The student is getting so much information in a short amount of time that its difficult to focus on what it is really important. How do you think the process could be improved? John Ware

Anthony, Anthony: Even if admissions reps were reasonablly informed with up-to-date information about other schools, there still is an inherent conflict of interest for an admissions rep of one school trying to present "fair" information about another school. There are plenty of resources available for students if they want to compare schools and it is best to refer students to those sources of information or to refer them directly to the school they are interested in. Which of the Board's policies regarding advertising and the recruiting of students do you think is most important to caution a new school owner about?
Donald, Very true. Since students typically find out about a school through the school's marketing efforts, it is very important for admissions staff to udnerstand the information and messages that are being conveyed through the marketing material as students will often have already formed opinions based upon what they have read or seen. What recommendations do you have for a new school owner when it comes to complying with the State Board's rules and regulations?
Steven , Local economic conditions can effect placement rates. Typically students will be looking at schools in the same general area so they may able to make valid comparisons. John Ware
Mary, I would encourage you to speak with faculty or other administrators in your school who may have specific information about the certifications. John Ware
