It is so important to complete the Enrollment Paperwork correctly.

Resource Notebook

In our resource notebook we have compiled the following: School Catalog, Policies and Procedures, Enrollment Agreement, Admissions Staff Training, Accreditation, as well as the Organization Chart. Having the Resource Notebook is a great tool. During this course I have learned about the Florida Statutes, compliance regulations and much more.

Understanding your institution

It is important to understand what your institution offers and why. During an interview knowing everything that you institution does for a student is very beneficial. For example at my institution our career service department works very closely with our students. They start while they are in classes still by having workshops every month where the students come in dressed professional and they work on interviewing skills etc. Knowing that before hand can mean the world to someone.

Admissions process and paperwork

Every institution's process is different. At my institution every program has a set of paperwork. We organize each program by colored folders. For example if I student was enrolling for Cosmo we know that the red files have all the paperwork for that program. As an admissions representative I have to make sure that each form is explained and signed properly. Once the file is complete then financial aid continues the process and the file ends with the Director who makes sure that everything is correct and complete.

Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Catherine and I am an admissions representative. Being able to enroll people into a program that is going to help them succeed in life is my motivation everyday. Just know that I am helping someone change their life for the better is a thrill and an inspiration. Seeing them in the classroom and at events and graduation is want keeps me going everyday. I absolutely love what I do.

Personal Evaluation, Accepting credits from working experience

We believe that an individual can learn certain skills and acquire knowledge from working experience. The Law Enforcement College will be offering an associate degree in Criminal Justice with two concentrations ion Cyber Crime Investigation Technology, and Homeland Security /Anti-terrorism. I have an extensive college experience for over a decade, including graduate credits in Criminal Justice. At the same time, I was working as a contractor for Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and Federal Aviation Administration for many years. Before you even start working, you have to go through active training in the classroom and then polish your knowledge while working in the field. From experience, if I compare the knowledge I gained by being a graduate student in Criminal Justice and my training and in the field, I would say that the knowledge gained is adequate in comparison. Unfortunately however, it is difficult to establish the perfect evaluation system and evaluation instruments to provide the fair and adequate level of credit acceptance.

Financial Aid and Admissions

How involved can an admissions rep become when it comes to financial aid?

Meeting via Skype

I've found that Skype is a huge boon to us in terms of keeping things up-to-date. Being able to hold meeting without having to travel has helped tremendously.

Mailing catalogs to prospective students

Our policy is to mail a catalog to each prospective student when they request information from us. The online form they fill out includes a place to enter a mailing address. On occasion, the address is incorrect. If a catalog is returned by the postal service, we send an email (if an email address was provided) requesting an updated mailing address. In addition, we ask all tour attendees if they received a catalog, and we make them available during the tour to anyone who didn't receive it in the mail or who may simply want another one. This way, we make certain that all prospective students have posession of a catalog and have the answers they need at their fingertips.

Meetings

Meetings are time when lots of information can be given and received. If there are any questions, suggestion, of comments about the admissions process and procedures this is a great time to do so.

Know Your Product

It's imperative to know what your school offers and how it's going to benefit your customer. I think product knowledge is the key to success in this industry. No one wants to feels as if they are being SOLD.

Regulations

I understand that all enrolled students get a catalog/handbook, but do I give a prospective students that only wants information a catalog also?

Resource Notebook

Is the resource notebook for personal use? Can this information be shared with prospective students?

Staying up to date on compliance

I read up on our organizations newsletters. ACICS, FAFSA, DOE, SEVIS and several other oraniztions. Right now the federal government are making so many new laws and changes to college with title 4 loans that we are having to do a complete over haul of every area in every department in the College. ACICS is adopting and implement major changes in the way course work is now determined and the number of class hours, study hours it takes to make up the credit hour. We have to look at students standards of progress to see if they are on financial warning or finacial probation. There are appeals and needed documentation for poor performance in the area of finacial probation and standard of progress. Daily reading of the regulations and all the news coming for the federal goverment is a must now to keep up with if you want to be sucessful and not be shut down for not complianing with the new regulations.
