lititagation

Hello, all!....I've seen alot happen in the past few years over litigation...It's always a good policy just to have all your ducks in a row as we all know we should..Sometimes just a reminder of the best policies, seem to bring back all the right and wrongs....Best to you all!!!!

Data that supports Admission Efforts

In the new position I am in, I found that I needed to have some baseline data on the lead and the lead sources the first week. That one report will helped me with a starting off position.

Motivating Students

Can anyone tell me what tools they have used for motivating students?

Student Services

How much can student services help each individual student. When an institution does not offer dorming is their certain community connections the school should have in that area to guide students for housing?

Admissions Institution - Specific Training Documentation

What type of documentation could be collected for institutional - specific training requirements?

Believing in your product

Seeing is believing-- selling not necessarily so. If you truly believe in your product, selling it to prospective students is much easier than just trying to sell something to make a buck. As a practicing dentist, I believe in the value of what I do. In administering our school, I truly believe that our students will be superbly prepared to enter the working world as a well trained dental assiswtant.

Necessity of rulesw and regulations

Like most all aspects of civilized society, rules and regulations make for a smoother running society. The rules we must adhere to in running our school ensures the greatest possible chance for the success of both the school and the student. We wouldn't want it any other way.

A successful website

After many discussions with the founder of the prototype of our dental assisting school, I realize that a great website is the best tool we have to promote our school and recruit new students. Utilizing a website search engine optimizer is critical in giving prospective students a chance to see what we have to offer via the website. The complicated and mysterious algorithims with which the search engines rank a site is beyond the paygrade of most individuals, and remains not totally readable even to the professionals who earn their living doing just that, but they sure can make the likelihood of finding your site on page one of Google a lot higher.

Practicing Dentists running a Dental Assisting School

I have practiced general dentistry for over forty years, as has my partner. Having worked with many assistants during that thime, I feel uniquely qualified to know what qualities and information a good dental assistant needs to be a success in the field. I have seen good ones, bad ones, and a lot in between. My perspective will allow me and my partner, who shares many similar experiences, to educate and shape our students into the type of assistant who will be an asset to any dental office.

Transfer of clock hours to credit hours

My institute is currently defined in clock hours. How do I define my clock hours into credit hours?

Enrollment Agreement/Catalog

My institute is located in the city of Hialeah. Where the majority of the population are hispanic. Is it necessary to translate the enrollement agreement and catalog from English to Spanish?

Rules and Regulations

This is probably one of if not the most important area that we have to know and be well versed on.

Student social security numbers and credit card numbers

Patty, Our school keeps both paper and electronic copies of student records. With identity theft being a huge concern, we have had a few students refuse to give us their addresses and their social security numbers! The Colorado DPOS (our home state approval agency) requires that we have this information on file. I am curious how other schools handle keeping this info secure. We only have 2 people in our office who see this info and it is not stored on any laptop that goes out of our office. Student records (paper copies) are in one staff persons office and they lock their door whenever they leave the office. Should we be doing something else?

Oranizing the paperwork

The resource notebook is a great tool for keeping everything together in one place. We also utilize a "Team Website" where updated information gets posted and all can benefit from it.

Transfer of the credits

When a student asks about the transfer of our credits to other institutions, we advise them of check the other institutions, we advise them that to check with that institution because transfer credit policies vary from institution to institution.

Career Placement

It is important to help graduates with their resumes, letters, etc for interviews. A lot of candidates have a degree or a diploma but lack a good personal presentation. The placement departments need to assist in this area as well. Some institutions assist in career placement where there are institutions that do not. It does not make institutions that do not provided career placement any less valuable to the student. Many students currently have employment or careers and are looking to enhance their education for advancement purposes only.

Enrollment Agreement

I think it would be beneficial to the students to advice on every step of the enrollment. They should be informed and explained every paper that they are reading and signing. I also agree that the enrollment agreement along with the catalog constitutes the contract between the student and the school.

The resource notebook

I am thinking that every person required to take this course should have one. None the less it should be standardized for the entire school. For example, a director is required to take this training but if there is a question regarding admissions, it would be better if they had their own copy rather than have to take it to Admissions. This would ensure that the information is correct.

Student Files

Is it required to make duplicate copies of student files in case of loss or damage to the originals?

Resource Book

I am taking over admissions for someone that has left. Can I Reuse their Resource booK and add my own new information to it?
