Student stressors

Stress is basically defined as an applied force or system of forces that tends to strain or deform a body. It is usually caused by something that is out of the ordinary from everyday life, things like tests, family problems and loss of job. Today students have a lot of stress because of a lot of different reasons. There are many things that cause stress for college students; school-related issues, relationships, and peer pressure.

Stress in the workplace

For workers everywhere, the troubled economy may feel like an emotional roller coaster. "Layoffs" and "budget cuts" have become bywords in the workplace, and the result is increased fear, uncertainty, and higher levels of stress.

Psychomotor Learning Activity

Hi Folks, my name is Qadar and I teach computers to MA (Medical Assistance) and MBC (Medical Billers and Coders) in one class. I teach both groups how to use both EHR (Electronic Health Record software) and PMP (Practice Management Program software). To create a team work between the MA and MBC students is very difficult. To break the ice between the groups I give them a research paper named "COMPUTERS then and now". I break them up into groups (mix of both parties) and research through the internet: History of computers, advantages and disadvantages of computers. This idea is working out really well. If you have different ideas that I could implement please let me know. Thanks.

what is your view on the use it wisely card idea discussed here in thi

When I read this suggestion I thought wow I am going to try it tomorrow and for the rest of the module. I have a couple students that this might really work for.

Instructor should all follow same rules

I strongly believe that all instructors should have a base of classroom policies and everyone should be made to follow them. I have found that if I am strict about the dress code and flip flops being worn, students seem to retaliate by saying that other instructors do not make them do it. I feel like "the bad one" when I enforce the school policy and send students home to correct the dress code.

Dealing with technology in the classroom

I have a technology policy on my syllabus which I explain the first day in class that states to turn off all technology during class time. The students can use their technolgy during break times. I do let students use their laptops when working on writing assignments or working in groups.

student motivation

I like to motivate the students to come for the next class period by sharing a few exciting tidbits of what we will be learning the class time.
