I have noticed that with increased diversity in the classroom, there are more problems associated with language barriers to the students. I am not sure what would be the best way to handle this since it is hard to tell if it is the material they are struggling with or how I am explaining it. Any thoughts?

If you students are asking questions about something you have said, or are getting involved in the discussion by offering their opinions, and wanting to challenge someone else's opinion.

When I'm stressed I like to take atleast 30 minutes of the day to eliminate stres. Walking, excersice,and quiet time. That helps me refocus and get back on track.

Stress can be dangerous. Some people think it's productivity when in actuality it can damage you. It weakens the immune system and could also casue hypertension and burnout.

I like to set aside a certain time of the day for clerical task because it is time consuming.

The information stated that people enjoy hearing their own name and encouraged the instructors to call every students by their first name. I have always had trouble remembering names. During the first class of the term I even mention this to my students. I tell them that I even call my children by my cats names! Does anyone have any techniques that help you to remember someone's name?

I t is good idea to make a to do list. and go through it and figure it out and eliminate them in a series from high to low.

One of the challanges I seem to face is making sure my students are staying on track with homework assignments, project progress and so on without allowing them to wait to be reminded. I provide a day by day schedule of events during the first class meeting, include verbal reminders at the end of each class as needed for upcoming items but some remain surprized when they miss a deadline or exclaim "Oh no we have a test today!". Any thoughts would be welcome.

Yes commute is a biggest stress specially for New yorkers. Early morning you got up on time and caught train on time and have very positive attitude, that you absolutely reaching to work on time everything was running smooth until you heard a announcement, conductor is announcing train will be late for indefinite time because we have disable train in front of our train. Train is in the tunnel, you are sitting in the train stressed, cell phone is not working under the tunnel so you are not able inform your manger that you are running late. This happened last week also because of bad weather and tacks got fire.What to explain he/she going to think you just making excuses every other week. So what you do.

The school I teach we have around 10 instructors in on big room, some of them will continue to pile old exams, handouts, coffee cups and all kind of other things. Which invites reddens in the room and food smell. What can you do about these teachers, tried many times to talk to them no results. What to do.
