What if your adult student's job experience is not relaive to the class you are teaching. Will they still feel like their experience is beneficial to their learning?

If you have someone who has a learning disability like dyslexia would it be unfair to the other students if you gave them special help ?

Student Retention

I find that when I get a new student I go out of my way to find out something about them, likes & dislikes. I try and get to know them & when I learn their personality I help them to take their strong points and apply it to their trade. I find it helps them to build their confidence because they had it in them all along.

Stay Motivated

Stay motivated as an instructor, so the student will stay motivated as well. If an instructor finds him or herself losing the motivation, take a step back and think about how you can get the student involved in their education process. How can you help the students learn and apply that knowledge to their field of student to be able to get employed. The instructor should continue with their learning process to stay up to date with the lastest technology and teaching styles.

Knowing Styles of Instruction

Instructors should show respect to the students and develop a trust with the students as a whole. Instructor should demonstrate a variety of learning style for the many different learning styles of the students, and understand the difference between your traditional student and the adult learner.

Knowing Your Students

Knowing Your Students Student who are right out of high school prefer to be passive students where there is more structure. While the more adult students prefer to be active students, they like to be engaged in the process of their learning right away. The instructor should set the atmosphere of the classroom on the very first day to set the tone for the rest of the term. It should be positive, and open, letting the students know that they will be involved their learning process.

Adult Learners

Adult Learners Adult Learners are not your traditional students, meaning that they are not right out of high school. An adult learner has been in the work field for some time and would like to apply their working experience to the classroom. Adult learners may feel apprehensive at first about returning to the classroom. The instructor should assure the adult learner by encouraging and acknowledge well done work.

we as instructors are the front line. We need to keep the students informed and respect there needs. Always keep them interested in all material be taught. Answer questions in a professional manner.

ED102 Student Retention

I was able to gain alot of strategies in teaching the adult learners. I keep their attention focused on what we need to learn today (day by day)... Tomorrow is a new day with more and better topics.

Motivating

I walk around my clinic all day when I see students doing something correct I praise them if I see them doing something wrong I correct them in a way that they can learn from there mistakes.

Participation How

I have often had students that will not participate in the class learning activities or if they dom it is very little. I would like to make each student feel like they are apart of the group and they feel like particating.

Security

With the shottings that has happened in the past few years at college campus it is so important for students to feel safe. I feel that as much as college cost there should be security in place on every college campus..

Disabilities

I feel that it is very important to have ramps and a modified area for learning. That will aid people with diabilities.

Motivating Students

It is highly imperative that the instructor has a postive take on all aspects of the students education. Even when they fail giving them positive feedback is important.

adding personal experiences to lectures

I think it is a great idea to add personal experiences to the lecture for reinforment of real live issues for the art of learning.

Make a stance

It is important for an instuctor to make a stance to the student for the importants of there education.

Young minds vs older minds

The diffrence between older student are more addaptive in learing because of the maturity level verses the younger.

Motivation

Most of my students work a night shift or long hours after class and come to school they are tired and worn out. I try to keep them motivated by keeping the class a fun place to learn, i ask alot of questions keeping them alert. I also have alot of hands on training to keep them busy and awake

Motivating Your Students

As instructors I feel asthough knowing your class as a whole and each students needs is very important when it comes to motivating your students. It is also important for us to remeber that things that we feel are motivating might not be motivating to them.

This was a great piece because it reflected on not only the student but the instructor also. As instructors we need to remeber that we also need a little boost to assist us with the 150% that our students need.
