Playing movies and DVDs do help in information content thru visuals,audable,and demostration for practicle use.All this is fine,as long as you do not let the movies teach the class.Students still need our knowledge and information for the understanding of the subject.

In the school that I teach in we are given the tests we must use for the course. To help prevent coping there are 4 sets of tests with the same questions but in a different order. I have seen that the order of the questions makes a difference in the test scores. I would like to find a way to track this and present the results to the ed team. Has anyone found a computer program (not to much money I still have 8 of my 10 children living at home) that will track 1) the # of times a question has been answered wrong and 2) how many times it is wrong per test?Thank you for your help.

Developing these three qualities in the students is always a chalenge but worth the instructional effort to promote a well rounded student.

The first day is the time to set the scene for learning.Let the student know that instructor's are there for them and not against them.Be firm in a positive way.

Since an average adult's attention span is between 15-18 minutes, how often should breakes be provided? How long should the breaks be? What should the class do when the instructor starts losing the students?

On my first day being with students, I need to ask each student to complete a scavenger hunt of the facility to become familiar with supplies, building structure, etc. When would be the best time to complete the scavenger hunt?

Gain their trust with your introduction and description of your experience level. Explain how this training will lead them to a similar rewarding career. Ask them to concentrate and trust the process that will get them there in a timely fashion. When you use specific time frames it becomes clear to the students that there is a process and by staying within it they can achieve their goals.

right now we have a couple deaf students going to our school so we have signers to sign what we say and explain when questions arise this puts me on my best why because I speak Southern Yankee with a California accent. Tranlation how about a picture of lemonade or a warsher for that bolt. I have to clean up my English for my classes and I have to pay close attention to what I say and how I say it. Or the signer ask me to spell the word in questions.

these two give the most rememberable experience to me. I smile all the time. why ? because when I was in school one of my teachers used to roll her eyes or let her breathe out real fast when you asked questions, or didn't understand. I make sure I don't do those things. I present myself as it's the first time I was asked that question even if I had just answered that question. I might answer a little ndifferently because it is evident the student didn't understand the question or answer.

sometimes its hard to keep the students attention when they work and go to school.Mini lectures work well, walking around the classroom and keep good interaction with all syudents. Ask questions so you keep all involved.

I feel respect is an important thing to have in the classroom. It must come from both instructor and student. As an instructor we cannot expect or demand it from the students without justification and it is likewise with the students. The first day of class sets the tone for the rest of the phase and what you do that day can have a dramatic impact on the instructor and student.

Even after prepareing for the first meeting with the class,I find a high percentage of my students do not keep the info available,and I end up with the same questions anyway.

I think it is very important to let students know your experience in the course you are teaching. Let the students know they can ask any questions related to course content and then have class discussion.

meeting our class for the first is an ambivalent feeling. We maybe a well prepared instructor did our research but when emotion overcome our preparedness something may happen. the important thing is checked our composure and know our equipment prior to the "show".

In my experience, students performance and classroom participation has some relation to their cultural background. Understanding some of these cultural differences among the students is vital for effective evaluation. For example, some students may know the content very well but scores low in a debate performance.

Bounderies are made in order to provide orderly conduct in the classroom and discipline needs to be established.Out of line student must be refocused on the subject at hand and let them know that as an instructor, we are the authority and respect in the classroom is the prime concern. as an instructor and a human being, how can we prevent our very own emotion spill over for the class not to see them? at times i think we are very poor dramatic actors.
