When entering into a classroom you as an instructor should be very careful of your mind set because as soon as you walk through the door all eyes are on you and students are reading you like a hit on face book. I guess what I'm saying is that anything that is not pertaing to the subject you are teaching leave it outside the class it could effect your teaching and the way your students respond to you.

Standardized Testing

We use the standardized tests that come with our books in our curriculum. I always make sure that I cover the material in our books that is going to be on the test. I will say, make sure you highlight this area, in some cases so they know what to study. Sometimes I will write my own tests if I don't like the questions in the standardized test.

testing styles

so far this year i have noticed that just like the learning styles of students differ, so do the test taking abilities. beyond the matter of studying, it never fails that certain students will excel with one type of test, ie: written, multiple choice and then get really nervous and struggle through the practical portion of the exam. we try to encourage good study habits,ask questions, seek out extra help, tutoring, office hours, practice at home etc., in order to be best prepared for the exam.
