Best practices

Preparation of course content and ability to teach to meet each student's personal learning styles is key.

Student learning style

I felt this course had good big picture tips to incorporate into course instruction.  My top take-aways

1. accurately assessing student's background knowledge and readiness to comprehend course material

2. break up topics into small units to allow for improved retention and comprehension of subject matter

3. vary instructional material to address a variety of learning styles.

4.  I also liked the tip on how to keep standards high in the course, as being interpreted as having higher expectations for student learning.  I.e. not that the course material is so difficult only few can master, but that I must insist… >>>

Action plan - UDL implementation

I particularly like the comment early in the class that UDL is not really something that is achieved in its entirety but is rather something of a ongoing journey towards a goal. There are some areas that I struggle to imagine a different way of having students respond - for example, if I am teaching a writing course, I need them to write. Certainly adaptive technology for disabilities is 100% fine, but the final product has to be written. On the other hand, I can see opportunities for me to do a better job with this - for example, I… >>>

ED-405

I have gotten a new way to use in my lecture and practical teaching I loved the one of were I get the students to do a journal were the students can show what they learned and where they are having trouble understanding it gives me the opportunity to help the students where they need the help in .  This Also has shown me the importance of different learning methods I can relate to my job as an instructor of cosmetology and barber. It was a very enforcement information to be a better instructor for my students.

I have love. Each method of teaching skills

This course has given me more tools that I can use to help my students to have other ways to understand and succeed in their  career. I liked the role playing method and judging  that I can implement and improve my teaching skills. One of the method that I will implement in my  teaching skills is to give students the opportunity to to do a journal this will help me and my students to see what they understand and where they are confused this methods we'll let me help the students where they need help. I have had different challenges… >>>

Great class

I definitely Learned a lot from the course.I enjoy anything that helps hone my skills as a teacher.

Helpful but . . . .

I appreciate the information that was presented. Some of it is a restatement of what we already know. Having an overall Universal Design does provide a theoretical framework for our work. As I went through the module, I had the overwhelming feeling that I would almost never have the time to actually do what the module presents. Power points, multi-media, blogs, tutoring, etc.

Having an open mind to incorporating technology into ACTIVE learning

As faciliators, it is important to be openminded and positive about the changing learning environment in regards to the incorporation of technology into education. Social media and other online resourses are embedded within society and the growing embodiement of online learning for the future generations.

Adaptive Learning

I really enjoyed the Adaptive Learning section of Maxknowledge. I think it will help me tailor future lesson plans towards my students strengths.

I recommend the course.

what are your best practices

online course

Today I learned that online classes are very individualized to everyone; however, I didn''t quite understand how it should be created. I need to go back and have a third party evalute my course.

training

The informations were very helpfull great learning experience. very informative

Instructional Planning

I found this course incredibly helpful in preparing and structuring course work for individuals with all different learning styles.

Adaptive Learning

I found a version 2.0 of the Tyton Partners "Learning to Adapt" research report. It's a free PDF download, and can be found by searching for the aforementioned, as well as the sub-title "The Evolution of Adaptive Learning in Higher Education."

Managing the Class & Students action plans

My Managing the Class & Students action plans include personal contact with the students on their individual situations, This includes middle-of-term advising, develpment of personalized learning plans, and escalation of student absenteeism / late assignment consequences - before it becomes too late for the student.

Improving Speech Communication Course

This course offers excellent information and recommendations that focus on challenges I faced last semester teaching a Speech Communication course. I intend to adapt my syllabus, Canvas modules, classroom instruction and grading methods to reflect what I learned.

Teaching speech requires a great deal of student presentation performance development. While students' knowledge of communication theory and the history of rhetoric best practices are essential, students improve their verbal and nonverbal skills through practice. Maintaining motivation, while students engage in group discussions, research, outlining and delivery, is especially critical in Speech Communication courses.

Sharing

I plan to talk with my students to find out how they learn and express to them that they may not like all of the material but it is vital to the learning process

Clinical Rotations

The students learning the three domains of education is viable towards their medical education in dealing with all types of patients.

Assessment

Since everything in here is so flexible depending on the students actions, there are many concepts that may be touched upon in a simulation scenario. I will begin using instructor notes to cover details of those concepts/topics that may come up. Also for time management, I will begin inserting the amount of time alloted for each portion of my simulation scenarios, in my lesson plan.

Teaching with personalization in mind....

My favorite takjeaway from the adaptive learning module was that teachers can approach their lessons with the aim of customzing. This can get the creative juices flowing and allows us to cater to stduents who often have a mix of needs as they learn. Also, if adaptive learning helsp the stduents to gain a depper graps of material (by being more engaged and by pacing their progress so they learn with less anxiety to know material by rote) well then society is better as a whole because edcuated indiviudals make society a better and richer place. Don't you agree?
